The bot is broken once again, because Twitter has randomly suspended (no reason/notice given) my “app” that I use to authenticate/post the simulations. I tried to submit a support ticket and they just sent me a password reset link… Paging @TwitterSupport @TwitterDev for help!

Today's simulation was a doozy...easily cracking the top 5 longest "solutions" the bot has ever found with a final time of nearly 4,000 years! Here is the full version, set to both piano Expanse tracks:

Here is the full version of this one, accompanied by a new recording I just made of the Bach! It ended up lasting more than 1000 years :)

In case Twitter burns down, the bot is now cross posting its daily video to three (3) new places where you can follow it: Tumblr: tumblr.com/threebodybot YouTube: youtube.com/@ThreeBodyBot Mastodon: botsin.space/web/@ThreeBodyB… (which can also be turned into an RSS feed) Enjoy!

The bot is now also uploading to YouTube! You can find a copy of today's simulation here: youtu.be/Nvuq8wJg4CI Future simulations should* upload to three places now -- here on Twitter, YouTube, and Tumblr!

Leaving Twitter or worried about it imminently imploding but still want to see pretty astrophysics simulations? I’m in the process of getting the bot to crosspost to other social media sites — the first implementation on @tumblr just went live at ThreeBodyBot.tumblr.com!

Here's the full version of this one! This is the second longest "solution" the bot has ever found, but the big initial loop is the new record holder for longest single orbit at almost 12k years! The time in the title gets a bit wonky but I'm too lazy to fix it today... enjoy :)

needed a few more years to resolve -- here's the full version, which pairs quite well to the music :)

This is officially the new record holder for longest lasting system the bot has found! Not sure how long it actually goes yet, but here’s the first 2600 years…

Fixed in this commit, so it shouldn't happen again! github.com/kirklong/ThreeBod… And here's a bonus animation for today to make up for all the darkness:

For those interested, the bug is on the second line of this screenshot (should be i=1:(n-1)). The code is supposed to check if positions overlap, but it didn't do it because of this! This also means today is the first time it's ever randomly drawn two identical initial positions.

The code now has an interactive mode, making it easier to generate your own animations with your own initial conditions! Here’s a video showcasing the process in ~2 minutes. For help with step 0 check out the YouTube tutorial video on how to install Julia + get the code!

The full version of this one is quite lovely, and syncs really well to the music I think. Enjoy!

Better late than never! Here is the full version of this one with a fun resolution -- goes really nicely with the music I think.

Here's the full version! Needed just a few more years to resolve. Recorded a new version of Liebestraum as well, which pairs really nicely with this one I think.

The bot recently beat its own record, finding a solution that lasted longer than 500 years, more than doubling the previous best! You can find that video + thread here: xitter.cf/ThreeBodyBot/status/14…
