How did they both pass *their* respective parties’ vetting processes?
Maybe it’s just a fact of life that there are bad people in ALL organisations?

@LibDems it is almost as if the truth is beyond them - frankly it would be great if some one started getting sued - trust in all politics is low & lies need consequences

that is as much of an indictment of Labour as it is of Tories however the common thread is HM Treasury orthodoxy which really runs the politicians & what a miserable record they have of advising minister

the reason we have 2 large aircraft carriers was Gordon Brown supporting the Scottish Economy, they are impressive ships but we didn't need them & can't provide the naval screen to sail them independently. We should have built more destroyer/frigates but Gordon did this to support SNP voter weasels from the reality that the scottish economy needs massive UK support direct & indirectly. Meanwhile the very corrupt SNP can't even get 2 ferries working
Paul very eloquently with number makes the point no one in the public sector or on benefits will understand. The young business man is risk his family security to support not just them but his employees & Labour just don't get it ( nor does the HM Treasury)

has any politician ever answered exactly what economic benefit are derived from Free Movement - we have before & after so theoretically the economic performance vis a vis top 4 EU economies should be obvious - Journalists should stop asking IF Labour will permit but as WHY?? & follow up @afneil style

Tonight, my family and I experienced something no family should ever have to go through.
Our restaurant, Singh’s Dining Restaurant in Hammersmith, was attacked by a group of Islamists.
We had been receiving death threats every single day, including one that specifically warned us that 28 October would be our last day.
We raised our concerns, and the @metpoliceuk were aware of the threats. Yet tonight, we found ourselves facing the very nightmare we had feared.
My daughter had to close the shutters just in time. I cannot even begin to imagine what might have happened if she hadn’t acted so quickly. We could have lost someone in our family tonight.
The attackers reportedly tried for a long time to break through the shutters to get inside, leaving shortly before the police arrived.
We have serious concerns about how the attackers knew when to leave, and whether they were alerted before the police arrived. These concerns deserve a thorough and transparent investigation.
Tonight, I am left facing a heartbreaking decision, Do we keep our doors open and risk our lives, or do we shut down the business we have worked so hard to build because I don’t serve Halal food.
No family should ever have to choose between their livelihood and their safety. No one should have to live in fear in their own place of work.
I am angry. I am heartbroken. I am frightened for my family’s safety.
I am calling on the @metpoliceuk to take these threats seriously, investigate tonight’s attack thoroughly, and ensure that my family is protected.
Please share this post. Let our voices be heard. We should not have to wait for someone to lose their life before our safety is taken seriously.
Enough IS Enough.

he did something far more useful than sit & listen to a completely performative announcement - he sat with EXPERTS & reviewed the Budget - BTW much was already announced to the Times which shows how irrelevant the HoC is @CommonsSpeaker

strange that this was unnecessary for last 50yrs despite cold war, several recessions , 2 gulf wars , 2008 financial crisis, Harry marrying Markle but after 2 1/2 yrs of Labour we now MUST expect an emergency - & don't blame the Tories ( they were rubbish ) your lot had 10yrs to "prepare for govt" & all you can come up with is a crisis pack!!

the ugly parade of useless chancellors is long, what still amazes is that the UK has stagnating economy, we have lower purchasing power globally like a frogs in a pan on the cooker most don't realise.
If you do what you have always done don't be surprised if you get the same result! ever increasing govt spending does NOT make us better off!
Switzerland govt spends 25% less than UK - is switzterland & the swiss poorer & worse than UK!!!
oh dear - here we have someone who can't do a simple check on google & comments on tax policy but does know who Laffer is - stick to Bluesky or get yourself an education
Well I am glad you agree some accounts do offer 5-6% .
Art Laffer ( on Merryn talks Money ) said all money coming into an account is income & related that to a v simple flat tax sub 15%

Can you give an example of where international spending has actually reduced illegal migration or even legal migration???? Even if you can why give aid to reasonably stable well functioning countries

Yup , Gordon Brown stopped indexation in 2008. Totally unreasonable

What ? You going to have to explain this one ! Firstly interest rates on saving ( currently around 5-6% ) & then profit - you are taxed on the interest you as a saver receive
