Very excited to share our paper is now online @ScienceAdvances! Inspired by the non-tearing grip of python teeth, we developed a device that significantly enhances rotator cuff repair. Huge thanks to all coauthors! @ThomopoulosLab @GuyGenin @BillLevineMD science.org/doi/10.1126/scia…

A new device created in the lab of Dr. Stavros Thomopoulos mimics the gripping power of python teeth to strengthen rotator cuff repairs  💪 In a new paper published today in @ScienceAdvances, the team reported that utilizing the device almost doubled tendon-to-bone repair strength, reducing the risk of tendon tear post-surgery. Meet @LAForresterMD! ⭐️ "At many other programs, you're often placed in a lab position or clinical research position without being given much autonomy or choice over what you will research. At Columbia #Orthopedics, you're given mentoring support." #OrthopedicResearch #Ortho

A research team led by @ColumbiaBME @thehunglab and @NadeenChahine has been awarded nearly a $39 million contract from the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (@ARPA_H) to build living knee replacements from biomaterials and human stem cells, including a patient’s own cells. In collaboration with @ColumbiaMed, the award will support more than two decades of collaborative musculoskeletal research at Columbia, providing a transformative solution for millions of people in the U.S. suffering from osteoarthritis. 📣Congratulations!
