An honour to interview Cardinal Arthur Roche, Prefect of the Dicastery for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments. Of particular importance was his direct repudiation of the decision to include a reading from the Quran at KU Leuven’s opening Mass. As His Eminence said: “Completely misguided.” advaticanum.com/article/excl…

I was inspired and received into the Catholic Church by my friend and mentor, Cardinal Charles Bo of #Myanmar This interview is truly beautiful. It's encapsulated in these words: "So my advice is: pray deeply, listen patiently, serve humbly, forgive generously, walk with your people—and keep your eyes fixed on Christ." advaticanum.com/article/excl…

Did Catholics get played by Donald Trump in 2024? As a presidential candidate, Trump courted the US Catholic vote – and he succeeded to a large degree, obtaining a significant part of it. Since then, though, there has been little from the president personally or from his second administration to justify the political faith Catholics put in him advaticanum.com/article/did-…

White supremacy. Hindu supremacy. Supremacist Zionism. They may disagree about who belongs on top, but they all agree someone belongs beneath them. That's why Christianity, sooner or later, will stand in their way. My new column: advaticanum.com/article/the-…

LATEST: The Vatican official responsible for the methodology of next week’s meeting marking ten years of Amoris Laetitia has dismissed questions over whether the gathering has effectively been taken over by the Secretariat of the Synod, saying it is “pointless to split hairs”. The 7–14 October gathering is still presented as an initiative of the Dicastery for the Laity, Family and Life even though structure of the meeting is heavily based on Synodality. However Father Costa insists this is not a continuation of the Synod. The method says otherwise. Prayer, small groups, daily reports, plenary dialogue and a commission text are the synodal process under another name. It may not be called a synod. It is still the Synod office’s way of running the discussion. Full report at @RealAdVaticanum advaticanum.com/article/vati…

LATEST: A request to expand the Traditional Latin Mass in the Diocese of Saluzzo has become a ping-pong match, with neither Bishop Cristiano Bodo nor the Dicastery for Divine Worship willing to take responsibility. Bishop Bodo’s position is that Traditionis Custodes prevents him from authorising a new provision. However Archbishop Aurelio García Macías, Under-Secretary of the Dicastery, wrote that implementing Traditionis custodes rests with the diocesan bishop, and invited them to “maintain appropriate contact with your diocesan Ordinary.” Read my article for the full correspondence on @RealAdVaticanum advaticanum.com/article/trad…
