Let me say this very directly. Football does not belong to investors. It belongs to the people who fill the stands and who stand on the touchline week in, week out, rain or shine. The World Cup is not a product. It is the greatest competition in world sport, and it was never anyone's to sell. Dress the deal up however you like. Once you have sold a piece of it, you have sold out. Football belongs to the fans. It always has, and it always will.

Also if we’ve got the ball then Lionel Messi doesn’t have it. If you say “ok you have it, come at us” he does. For 25 minutes. There’s the problem.

England should’ve won this game by two goals. We’ve gone right into our shells at a time where we should’ve pressed home the issue, and this is going to sting maybe more than any of the other heartbreaks.

I'm not a huge fan of Spence but the way he's being blamed for yesterday's goal is ridiculous. He had to make a choice of which unmarked player to pick and it was the correct one. He also didn't have a poorer game than anyone else, in fact, better than some. Sheep everywhere.

The club don’t deserve that, none of the board, directors, management, half of the players barely deserve it. But you, me, everyone who’s life, much as we don’t want to admit it, revolves around this wonderful, awful, incredible club, deserves it. We are the lifeblood. COYS

"Why isn't there a call for a huge rally in London this weekend of every committed anti-racist in the country?" Journalist Jonathan Freedland calls for greater solidarity with the Jewish community following the terror attack in Golders Green. #Newsnight

Yesterday I was at Heaton Park Synagogue, remembering Jews murdered by a terrorist. Today, Jews are stabbed on a London street. More terrorism. This does not come out of nowhere. It follows months of poison that downplays antisemitism, treats Jewish fear as suspect and turns public space into a place where that hostility feels normal. We’re told “antisemitism has no place in our society.” Then act like it.

5) I cannot stress this enough. Wireless did NOT invite Kanye West because they believe in the magical power of forgiveness for mental health. They invited him because they sought to financially gain. Painting this now as some sort of #bekind thing insults anyone with a brain.

I recently asked Jewish students at a leading UK university if they saw a future for themselves here. Not one said yes. Today Hatzolah ambulances, whose sole purpose is to save life - ANY life - are burned in London. A country where Jews no longer feel they have a future is already in crisis.

Wondering if the hearts of those frustrated by small acts of petty symbolism, by the feeling that smashed windows and graffiti on bakeries are simply not enough, are cheered by the upgrade to burning ambulances this morning.

This is a manager hired by Daniel Levy to take an underpaid, underfunded, untested squad and try to do more with less. A manager known for scraping together mediocre success through negative football at a club with absolutely no pressure with players who aren’t at the top level. Since his arrival, he has looked completely out of his depth. Every word that comes out of his mouth seems to downplay the club. He appears to believe the task at Tottenham is the same as at Brentford, and that the cultural transformation required here is something he’s already done before. He’s coated off the fans on numerous occasions and somehow sees positives in what has been a truly horrendous period for us. He doesn’t get what it takes at this level, he has not understood the club at all, he has no idea who we are, what we expect or why we are angry, he simply hasn’t got a clue. On the pitch, this squad looks worse and worse, losing at home to relegation fodder, no desire, no belief, no basics, no structure, no tactics, no anything. It was an unbelievably short-sighted appointment. Sacking a manager with the squad on his side for someone the polar opposite stylistically was an extraordinary decision. After 20-plus years of poor decisions, Daniel Levy’s legacy is there for all to see. It’s time the new CEO started selling his vision and project not just to the fans, but to a manager capable of delivering success at this football club. If he’s sacked in the morning it will feel far too late, get out Frank.

Last March I gave a lecture at Sydney University on anti-semitism and spent time with a deeply worried community. Two synagogues in Melbourne had been firebombed; children arriving at their Jewish school in Sydney saw its walls covered in swastikas. I tried to reassure the people I spoke to that there was a future for Jews in Australia but they were right, even then, to be distressed. Globalise the intifada just means kill Jews wherever and whenever you can. So I don't want to hear anyone telling me the weekly hate marches are just anti-Zionist, not murderous race hatred against Jews.

Given today’s horrific events in Sydney, we recognise wishing our Jewish fans a happy Hanukkah may seem hollow at this incredibly difficult moment. The story of Hanukkah reminds us that even in darkness, we can find the light. We stand alongside our Jewish communities and pray for peace and unity across the world, while sending our deepest condolences to those who have lost loved ones 🤍🕎

Hanukkah is a Festival of Light. It celebrates a miracle where a single jar of oil kept a menorah lit for eight days. Thought I'd just say that on this bleak day.

Another attack on Jews, that were just going about their business, commemorating a Jewish festival. While synagogues have been burnt on five continents since October 7. Usually more than once. The question many Jewish people will continue to ask is, where are we safe?

On the holiest day of the year we are attacked at a Manchester synagogue. Our children walk to school behind barbed wire protected by guns. Yet some still answer this atrocity with “what about…” This is my country, the sanctuary my grandfather found after surviving the Holocaust, promising freedom under the rule of law. Today I pray for the victims, thank the brave who responded and wonder if that promise is fading. A community this small cannot stand alone. If you believe in Britain (wherever you’re from & whatever your faith) you must stand with us. Many Jews cannot imagine a future here and history tells us what follows when that happens.
