In ancient Indian literature they were always referred as Pāṇabhūtā (Breathing Existences). They do not have Consciousness so cannot suffer craving or aversion or delusion. They cannot display other mental elements like compassion, kindness, joy, equanimity, wisdom and others.
For the first time, we're watching plants breathe in real time. Plants "breathe" through minuscule openings on their leaves known as stomata—a term derived from the Greek word for "mouths." These tiny pores perform a critical balancing act: they open to allow carbon dioxide (CO₂) to enter for photosynthesis, while simultaneously permitting water vapor to escape into the atmosphere through transpiration. This ongoing compromise influences a plant's growth rate, water requirements, and overall resilience, especially in challenging environments. Historically, scientists faced significant limitations in studying this dynamic process directly. They could either observe stomatal movements under a microscope (often in artificial or uncontrolled settings) or measure overall leaf gas exchange (which reflects aggregate behavior but obscures microscopic details). A recent breakthrough from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign overcomes this divide with an innovative system called Stomata In-Sight. This integrated tool combines three key technologies in real time: - A live confocal microscope (specifically laser scanning) that captures high-resolution, three-dimensional images and videos of living stomatal cells and pores without damaging the tissue. - Precise gas exchange sensors that quantify CO₂ uptake and water loss (stomatal conductance, photosynthesis, and transpiration) from the same leaf section. - A controlled environmental chamber that maintains specific levels of light, humidity, temperature, and CO₂ to simulate real-world conditions. By linking microscopic stomatal aperture changes (tracked via machine-learning image analysis for dozens of pores simultaneously) with whole-leaf physiological responses, researchers can now observe how individual stomata behave and contribute to the plant's overall performance under varying scenarios. The implications are profound, particularly for agriculture. Water scarcity remains the primary constraint on crop yields worldwide. By identifying the genes and mechanisms that govern stomatal efficiency—such as opening/closing speed, density, or aperture size—scientists can develop breeding strategies for crops that conserve water more effectively while maintaining or boosting photosynthesis. This could lead to varieties better equipped to withstand drought, heat, and other effects of climate change, ultimately supporting higher food production with fewer resources. Stomata In-Sight represents a major advance in plant science, transforming our ability to study—and ultimately engineer—plants that not only endure environmental stress but actively help humanity adapt to a changing climate. All fake information just go to get two kins of fame.

Try to revive them like world is trying to do for Tasmanian Tigers.
Dodo birds went extinct because they trusted humans too much. they were very social, and humans hunted and ate them. Endemic to Mauritius, when Dutch sailors arrived in the late 1500s, the dodos would calmly approach people out of curiosity, making them very easy to hunt. Humans did hunt and eat them (they were a convenient source of fresh meat for sailors), and the birds were described as social and curious. Their exctintion was accelerated by invasive species that humans accidentally (or intentionally) brought with them: rats, pigs, cats, dogs, and monkeys that ate dodo eggs and chicks (dodos nested on the ground). The last confirmed sighting of a dodo was around the 1660s, less than 100 years after humans first arrived. Their slow reproduction (only one egg per year) made recovery impossible.

When you have been in political arena for long & understand the mind of key players, you know what is happening right now is an exercise to beat the anti-incumbency & also reduce the impact of foreign interference in Indian Democracy. It’s a controlled play. Still in Control.

Problem with nurturing opportunists is that they build a mass around themselves using the aura of the actual Leader of the day, and when they plan to take off, they infiltrate the trusting minds with the ideas of dissent and then nibble away the support base.

What has Tagore got to do with Vande Mataram? How is his vision different from Bankim? Why was Vande Mataram adopted as National Song by Constituent Assembly? Congress doesn’t follow Constitution or following Constitution is an option?
VIDEO | Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate says, "There is no controversy over 'Vande Mataram'. There are two schools of thought on the song. One is the vision of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, which he laid before us...The other is the version of 'Vande Mataram' being pushed by Amit Shah... It is an easy choice: whether we follow Gurudev's vision or accept what Amit Shah is trying to impose. This was not an official or government function. It was a Congress event, and Congress is free to decide how many verses of the song to play and which ones to play. We made a choice based on Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore's vision, and that is what we are following..."

And now it is not changing? Shd such nonsense be promoted?
#WATCH | Delhi: On increasing cases of heart attacks among the young population, Founder and Chairman of Apollo Hospitals Group, Dr Prathap C Reddy says, "When I came to India, I used to see a lot of young people with heart problems...In 1991, three Indian doctors died in their duty rooms, and then hell broke out. They blamed inactivity, ghee, coconut oil. But finally it has been proven that 3 centuries ago, there was a famine that altered our genes. So, South Asians are prone to heart attacks at a much younger age. So, we have to be much more careful..."

Continent were called Mahādwīpa. Its not a western concept. Indians understood geology well.
India was an island for a long time in Earth's history. What intrigues me is the name Jambu-dvipa used in Sanskrit in ancient times to describe India. Dvipa specifically means an Island in Sanskrit. Nowdays, a new meaning is given to the word Dvipa to say it represents "continent." But the concept of continents is western and not seen otherwise in Indian literature. So what intrigues me is why did the ancients call India an island? India supposedly collided with Asia some 55 million years ago. That's 54 million years before human evolution as per currently accepted science. What did the ancient Indians see and understand to name their country as a dvipa? Jambudvipa.

The stupidity to appropriate everything in sight and make it “vedic” truly has no bounds. Now targeting iconography where every Dhammacakka has different spokes to represent different aspects of Buddha’s teaching.
This is a myth. 🚨 The so-called 'Dharma Chakra' of Ashoka is NOT Buddhist. Rather, it is Vedic. Historically, this was originally the pillar and wheel of the ancient Vājapeya ritual. The pillar is the cosmic representation of Agni/Rudra, and the Chakra is Sūrya (the sun). Hindus have worshiped this exact stambha and Chakra for thousands of years BEFORE the Buddha was even born

Just some more of the usual humbug.
Replying to @TrueIndology
Here is Indologist Asko Parpola identifying Ashoka's pillar and wheel with the ancient Vedic Vajapeya ritual. After the Vajapeya ritual, these pillars were worshiped as the Rudra's stambha (linga). This is why Ashoka's stambhas are worshiped even today. For instance the famous Lat Bhairav temple of Varanasi has as its deity the pillar erected by Ashoka.
