Big news in healthcare:
The FDA has cleared ThinkSono Guidance, the first AI-powered ultrasound software that helps healthcare providers who aren't ultrasound specialists capture images to check for dangerous blood clots (deep vein thrombosis, or DVT).
✅ Real-time AI guides where to place the ultrasound probe
✅ Images are reviewed by a qualified clinician
✅ Achieved 92.9% sensitivity in multicenter clinical trials
Why this matters:
A DVT is a blood clot that usually forms in the leg. It can cause swelling, pain, warmth, and redness.
If part of the clot breaks off and travels to the lungs, it can cause a pulmonary embolism, a life-threatening medical emergency.
Technology like this could help more patients get evaluated sooner, especially in places where ultrasound specialists aren't immediately available.

@ThinkSono + clinical team saved a patient's life on Friday evening.
A patient was symptomatic of DVT, but there was no ultrasound available for 72 hours. Luckily, the clinical team used @ThinkSono to scan + treated the patient!

Just found out, at one @NHSuk hospital, the average waiting time for a DVT ultrasound diagnosis is 96 hours 🤯
For context, @NICEComms guidelines state it should be done within 4 hours.
