Highway Code H2, it could not be clearer, but…
ps If you pull a stunt like these three did I will check visible registration plates, very much hoping that your vehicle is illegal.
If I successfully capture footage of a driver using a handheld mobile telephone I ‘run’ the plate.
Deuces are now wild for the driver and keeper.
A hat-trick in four minutes this afternoon, all moving targets too.
Do I get to take home the phone or the car?
At last, a BMW driver obeying the Highway Code instruction to leave at least 1.5 metres clearance when overtaking a cyclist.
Jim D has carefully analysed the evidence of this double close-pass, and has concluded that the camera cyclist was to blame for the driver’s actions.
Don’t be like the driver, and don’t be like Jim D - currently known as @Dorrit2014 .
“As a keen cyclist myself I am always careful when driving around other cyclists, except when I am not, then I really f*ck it up.”
Despite the morning sun playing havoc with auto-exposure you should still be able to enjoy the sight and sound of a driver on his handheld phone kerbing his wheel.
Even when evidence of phone use is too sketchy for a police report it is satisfying to know that there will be an amount of angst beginning from the moment they realise they have been caught on camera. Will they tell a partner tonight, or wait for a letter that won’t arrive?
Will contact from the police encourage a driver to change their spots? Super slo-mo as Bet Lynch was not hanging about.
I’ll give this driver a by, partly because I can’t say for sure that he was ‘using’ a new Apple iHotPotato phone, & partly because in our chat he appeared genuinely remorseful, & partly because the video shows drivers how quickly the cost of driving can be upped by bad decisions.
Same road, same day, same poor lane-keeping.
Drivers: please use the mirror on the passenger side, and if you have it, turn on side-collision warning, and if your car is too wide to share with a coach, then get a smaller one.
Really?!
Do you dislike cyclists?
Do you dislike them sufficiently to take 3 points – to make a point?
This silly girl won’t have been at her destination for more than an hour before I have completed my police report.
I am sure that SM could have waited.
nb. At no point was the car stationary.
Stationary car drivers who realise that they have been caught in the act of handheld phone use will often subconsciously confirm their guilt by putting the car in gear, or checking the gear selection, even when they are going nowhere because of the traffic ahead.
