ALT We’ll be honest with you... You might have heard that Unity has abruptly changed its Terms of Services, including a “per install fee” for every copy sold above a certain threshold. Sharing our future revenue is part of the game. Steam will take his cut, our publisher too, so it would be reasonable to think that Unity deserves a share since we rely on its powerful technology. But being noticed 4 months before that our financial compensation to Unity has to change in a very shady way, is hard for us. But to be honest, this is just another one-two punch like we get every couple of weeks. Game development is hard. Beside developing a game (which is insanely hard) we need to constantly look for financial partners for the next years to come, share our advancement with you (and we’re terrible at this ... sorry) and handle uncertainty on a daily basis. We feel betrayed and disregarded but Unity is what we’re good at. It is the result of years of practice and painstaking learning.
