Forever young. We will remember you. #LynyrdSkynyrd
It's hard to put into words just how devastating October 20, 1977, truly was...49 years ago today. That day, a plane carrying the members of the Southern Rock group Lynyrd Skynyrd crashed in the woods in Mississippi. Remarkably, several passengers survived. But the crash claimed the lives of six people, including Skynyrd's lead vocalist Ronnie Van Zant, guitarist Steve Gaines, and backing vocalist Cassie Gaines, who was also Steve's sister. The band's assistant road manager, Dean Kilpatrick, plane Captain Walter McCreary, and First Officer William John Gray were also killed in the crash. Today, and every day, we remember these "Free Birds," honor their lives, and celebrate their legacies. They're so dearly missed. 💔

Do you remember hearing this for the first time? I remember hearing songs on the radio and they were calling it southern rock. I bought the album and thought it played like a greatest hits album because of the quality of the songs. Are you a fan of this album? Do you still play it? What songs reel you in? Do people in other countries appreciate this album? #mikesquestions #LynyrdSkynyrd

47 years ago today, Prince's "Prince" was released. The second album, and the start of the one-man-band method. Prince playing and producing most of it himself, with “I Wanna Be Your Lover” leading the way.

Every year, Rory Gallagher came home to Cork to play Macroom, Ireland’s first open-air rock festival. In 1978, he made it legendary. He rolled up in a car, grabbed his battle-scarred ‘61 Strat, ran straight up the steps with no soundcheck, and tore into “Shin Kicker.” Pure rock and roll.

It’s actually crazy how you grow up thinking home-cooked meals every day are just normal, then get older and realise how much time and effort it took your Mom to make that happen and how lucky you were to have that.
