Wait what, we can make gold in a lab now?

In 2025, we published a bold proposal to use fusion reactors for gold production.
And now we’ve done it: Mercury transmuted into stable gold, using fusion neutrons, at 10x the record set by CERN in 2025.
We’ve reduced alchemy to a series of difficult but tractable engineering problems.

It is still just so extraordinary to me that the government basically loan sharked an entire generation of students.
If they’d outsourced it to Wonga, the outcomes wouldn’t have been much worse
I've been told the plane I'm on will be moving in "the next couple of moments".
Struggling to think of a unit of time vaguer than moments.

I might get hate for this but i feel like the handle on the maple syrup bottle could be just a little bit bigger
How is this populist slop getting a round of applause? I refuse to believe everyone in that room genuinely thinks he's making a valid point. The French Gov borrows €300bn a year.
French Presidential Candidate Jean-Luc Mélenchon:
They tell us, "We must reassure the markets." Reassure the markets? What are their names? Where do they live? Let me go and reassure them!
What market? What are you talking about? There is no market. There are hedge funds, financial companies and insurance companies.

If it's good enough they can ditch in flight entertainment entirely, switching to a BYOD format. Saves them millions in investment about about 1000lbs of weight per flight.
The @reading_buses app is really good
This means nothing to me, but very happy to believe Carl that this is a great idea. Now extrapolate these meaningful ideas from conversations by the thousands... now 10s of thousands... Opus 5.5 is so much intelligence for so cheap and available to everyone in their own language
Claude has gotten as smart as a smart human. I was using it as my intern, using it for tedious calculations, shopping for parts, summarizing research, and checking for obvious oversights. But it recently had a genuinely good idea. I've been working on a design for a new cyber-optical gizmo since last November. I've spent hundreds of hours thinking about the design, and I missed a simple and important improvement. But Claude thought of it. It's my own personal move 37.
I append the paragraph Claude wrote proposing the improvement. I recognize that it's pretty incomprehensible. But trust me-- it's a good idea I missed. (I don't want to describe my cyber-optical gizmo until I have some hardware to show off.)

Raise the price of petrol and diesel, @MansourBinZayed.
Let’s see what decision they come to after that.
