A lot of project failures don’t always start with a bad idea. Sometimes, they start with the wrong people being promised the wrong things. One thing I’ve learned from working around Web3 projects: Talk to the dev first. Before you tell a project owner, “I can do this, I can bring that, I can get you this many buyers, I can make the community explode,” actually have a conversation and understand what they need. A major reason some projects struggle is that people pitch services they’ve never actually done, make promises they can’t keep, and create expectations that the project simply cannot meet. Don’t pitch what you can’t deliver just because it sounds impressive. If you can’t handle something yourself, there’s nothing wrong with saying that. If you know someone who can do it properly, refer them. That’s still valuable. Your reputation is worth more than one quick deal. A dev might forget the amount you charged them, but they won’t forget when you promised something, failed to deliver, and disappeared. Web3 is already full of people overpromising. Be different. Ask questions first. Understand the project. Understand the budget. Understand the timeline. Understand exactly what the dev expects. Then tell them honestly what you can bring to the table. And if there’s something outside your skillset, be transparent about it. Don’t sell a dream you can’t deliver. Build trust by being honest about what you can actually do. Because sometimes, the reason a project fails isn’t that the dev didn’t try hard enough. It’s that the right strategy, people, and expectations were never aligned from the beginning. That’s why the first conversation matters.
