Quick stop at 'The Fryer's Delight' at 19 Theobalds Rd, London WC1X, for chips in beef dripping and a battered sausage. The layout makes me feel at home.

I am old enough to remember a time when we did not need public signs asking people not to shit in the park or on the streets. How far the UK has fallen!

The former Dun Cow pub at 279 Old Kent Road, at the corner of Dunton Road in Bermondsey, has been operating as The Dun Cow Surgery since closing as a venue in 2004. The Old Kent Road side still has "The Dun Cow" at the top of the building, while the Dunton Road side is limited to "TH OW". Originally opened in 1856 as a grand Victorian gin palace featuring eleven drinking rooms. The building was reconstructed in the 1930s, which is the surviving structure seen today. Heyday, particularly the 1970s and 1980s. The venue closed permanently as a hospitality spot in 2004 and was later converted into an NHS general practice.

The outside clock at 564 Roman Road in Bow, East London, is known as the "Maccullum Clock". It is built into the facade of the Grade II-listed former Passmore Edwards Public Library. The clock serves as a memorial representing John Maccullum, an East End philanthropist, local public figure, and prominent member of the Bow and Bromley Liberal and Radical Association. When the public library was funded by newspaper owner John Passmore Edwards and erected at the turn of the 20th century, the clock was integrated into the building's architecture to honor Maccullum's contributions to the local community.

City of London and the 1993 Ring of Steel. Originally established as a security initiative following massive IRA lorry bombings, specifically the April 1993 Bishopsgate attack, to tightly monitor and restrict vehicle access into the capital's financial district. Eight police boxes were installed in the same year to protect the police officers keeping watch from the weather. At the same time they changed the road layout to allow only eight points of entry into the financial district of the City of London, so you needed to pass one of these police checkpoints to gain entry. They were only deemed necessary for a short while after the IRA ceasefire about a year or so afterwards. They are very rarely policed much these days, but are there if needed. I guess many visitors to London nowadays are curious as to their intended use.

Cab has started making a loud high pitched whining noise. Kept coming and going but sounded pretty awful. Sounds like maybe the erad? Just from what I've heard from others in the past. Is it OK to drive or needs to go to a garage ASAP?

WE NEED THESE FACES EVERYWHERE. Police are looking for these two men after a 13-year-old girl was allegedly lured into a park and raped in London. Crimestoppers are offering a £10,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of those responsible. Share their faces. Someone knows who they are. If you recognise either man, contact the police or Crimestoppers immediately.
