Recent articles hailing cash transfers as one of the aid sector’s ultimate innovations miss the point. Cash isn’t a real evolution from the traditional model of aid of “us flying in something somewhere”. The only difference is the ‘thing’ is not buckets anymore, it is currency 🧵
