Spalletti was furious with Cabal due to his positioning and letting the attackers get behind him
“I’ll punch you if you do that again” (@Gazzetta_it )
Luciano Spalletti after tonight’s win 🎙️:
“I’m satisfied because they have played a good match against a strong team, a very strong team. When we played NEC we played as a poor team. We have to review this and see the progress we made with humility. When you win a game you win”
“Tonight we played great football and won a good game. If you lower yourself in any European competition you can see what happens. We have to keep this mentality because repetition causes us to form good habits. We were a little poor near the end and waited too long. If the game went five more minutes we wouldn’t have brought home the result”
“Koopmeiners today played his best game of the season as well as Kolo Muani. Several players gave us important answers during this complex period”
“This team isn’t one to be dismissed as they had went 17 games unbeaten in Europe at this stadium. We had to have authority tonight and the strength to have the courage to go through. We suffered a bit tonight but we had the right attitude which is most important”
“Ekhator? He’s a young boy and had a little job to do which he did well, within his characteristics”
“I was most satisfied with the spade we created for Kolo Muani tonight and Woltemade even”
“Many players did dirty work tonight like Lucumi who wasn’t even in his natural role. Kalulu for the umpteenth time has played a full 90 minutes and almost needed a change at the end. These are positive signals”
“Vicario had to parry that shot and then made a great save with his foot. When your keeper gives you numerically an advantage it’s only a boost for us”
“What convinced me is the players attitude. What worries me was the lack of finding spaces in behind when attacking. We had the correct attitude but need to execute a bit better”
Ends there! 1-2 Victory for Juventus
Thoughts on the match everyone?!
Your comments will be pulled into the post match pod tomorrow
Federico Gatti after Juventus win versus AZ 🎙️:
“It was a great victory away from because in Europe it’s always diffuse and it’s even more so here. Now we have to put this aside because we need to focus on the championship. We shouldn’t be in this position there”
“I’ve always been someone who attacks. The problem is I have to be excellent physically because if I’m not at my best then I can make mistakes. I have to stay in shape and play my game. I need this motivation”
“When I push forward I can lose a little lucidity. As a defender I have to leave that to the attackers but there are some actions where I need to move forward. I need to keep playing to maintain my condition. The win was important to us to keep continuity after the result last weekend. Now we have to do something positive before the break”
“Kolo? He’s a strong player and in my opinion we don’t exploit his athleticism enough. Sometimes we could do better at getting him in behind the opponents as we did tonight”
“I repeat we have to straighten out our standing in the Italian championship. To be this far away from the top is unacceptable. The season is long and there’s room to recover”
Koopmeiners has three goals in European competitions, which is second only to Scott McTominey amongst Italian midfielders (4)
@OptaPaolo
