Can we all agree that France v Morocco is the best match of the World Cup, based on national anthems?
‘It was only going to be one of two men who would rescue this for England.’
No disrespect to DR Congo, but that’s actually disgraceful. To have to rely on them two, to get through this round.
(Although they are both exceptional)
Elliott Anderson has been completely anonymous tonight.
England need to change something or we won’t break DR Congo down.

"Tiki-taka simply does not work with gegenpressing. The former is offensive football played defensively, the latter is defensive football played offensively."

The decade since that moment has seen failure after failure, as successive coaches have tried to marry the two styles.
The result? A no-man's land of confusion, lethargy, and embarrassment. And now the iron mentality, the penalty masters, have lost that too.
Nagelsmann will probably pay the price. His interrogator at this tournament, Jurgen Klopp, is widely accepted as the man who should take over.
But one man might not be enough.
Germany has lost its identity. It needs the whole nation to find a new one.

Was disappointed to break my record of watching every World Cup 2026 minute when rushed to hospital with suspected appendicitis this evening.
As it happened, my scans and tests all fell between the matches and at half times.
And thanks to WiFi, I’m still going!
