🤝Advice of the day #1: As a builder and indie hacker, never take advantage of a competitor when they're dealing with an outage that's totally out of their control and not their fault! That's what happened to @wickedguro when Railway was compromised and competitors started taking advantage of Postiz, especially since this builder open-sourced his tool.

Thought of the day #1: "You don't need to be first" I watched a video claiming a startup needs to be 3rd in its market to succeed, pointing to Facebook coming after Friendster and MySpace. While you can definitely find similar patterns (like Google coming after Yahoo and AltaVista, or Gmail coming after Yahoo Mail and Hotmail), it is hardly a strict rule. But one thing is for sure: "You don't need to be first". Later entrants can see what's working, listen to what users hate, and build a better alternative. The timing doesn't have to be third: - Slack: after Campfire, HipChat and Yammer - Anthropic: after DeepMind and OpenAI - Stripe: after PayPal, Authorizenet and Braintree - Zoom: after WebEx, Skype and GoToMeeting Don't try to be first. Find what users hate about the current options and fix it.

Today, I helped a friend test his new tool before launch. Here are 3 pieces of UX advice I gave him 👇 1/ Observe, don't lead 👀 When someone is testing your app, never say, "That's not how it's supposed to work." Your job is to watch, listen, and understand where they got stuck, not to explain how they should have used it. If users feel judged, they stop being honest. 2/ Show system status and allow undo ↩️ When users do something destructive, like deleting an item, always confirm it happened. Never remove something silently. Whenever possible, offer an "Undo" option. 3/ Don't blindly copy big companies 🚫 A big company's design or flow, isn't automatically the best, or the only, way to solve a problem. Even the biggest products have bad UX. Learn from them, but test what works for your users. Want examples of bad UX from popular products, or the example from my friend's app? Hey @X @XDevelopers @Premium, Why have my replies seemed to be flagged as spam for the last 2 days, even though I write them manually for "Let's connect" posts? I take the time to write personalized replies, while some of the other replies are identical, which is not a problem and is totally normal, yet mine don't appear to any other users (only to me). When I asked in the chat about a report page to report these false positives so you can improve the algorithm, all I got was "read our guidelines.". I can provide all the necessary screenshots and post links to help defend my case, but there's no one to talk to. Isn't X supposed to be an open platform in constant improvement? I started posting on the platform recently after about two years of inactivity. Could that sudden burst of activity be why my replies seem to be flagged? But then why did it start only in the last 2 days? I'm a real person, not a bot, and I don't use spammy tools. I just want to connect with other founders and build real connections without the fear of being hidden. Could you please fix this or let me talk to someone? Thanks!
