If social media had been a thing when the LOTR movies came out and word leaked that there was no Tom Bombadil, you people would have stormed Peter Jackson's house and skinned him alive.
There are serious logistical flaws.
For example, The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe occurs during WWII in the 1940s. Peter, Susan, Ed, and Lucy Pevensie flee London for the country because London is being bombed by Nazis.
This is a huge plot point and shapes how the characters interact for the rest of the story.
It is impossible for Digory to have lived in the 1950s, because he built the wardrobe which Lucy climbed into. It’s made out of Narnian wood, which is why it becomes a portal between two worlds. Digory grows up to be the eccentric professor who the Pevensie children take shelter with during WWII.
The era change completely upends the entire series. I don’t understand how anyone familiar with the source material could make this kind of mistake.

Denis really has no talent when it comes to constructing a shot. Why would you put a giant “Empire Exclusive” sign in the top right? We get it dude, Paul Atreides is an emperor - so fucking on the nose.

I say this a lot but nostalgia is the craziest thing. It blinds people to new experiences.
"This is different to what made me happy as a kid, therefore it is bad!"
Watch the new stuff, it may be incredible!
If not, go back to what you love, it hasn't been erased!

Grew up on and adore the first two Narnia movies and i cannot understand how the sentiment is already "fuck they're ruining my childhood" and not "holy shit two narnias"

Thank god the Lord of the Rings movies came out before social media became what it is today, because the internet would’ve lost its mind over some of the changes Peter Jackson made. Tolkien himself probably would’ve hated a lot of them, considering how famously protective he was of his work, and his estate has hardly been universally supportive of the adaptations either. Changes are inevitable when adapting a book to a different medium, and they’re not automatically bad just because they deviate from the source material 🤷

The stop-motion animation work behind LAIKA’s WILDWOOD (2026) is absolutely insane.
136 handcrafted sets, over 200 practical puppets and 49 animators working across 231 weeks, with some shots producing just 1–4 seconds of animation per week.

This is the kind of healthcare you'll tell Americans needs fixing, and they'll call you a dirty communist.
A 22-year-old’s inhaler jumped from $66 to $539 overnight. Unable to afford both his medication and rent, he paid rent.
Five days later, he suffered a fatal asthma attack.
On January 10, 2024, Cole Schmidtknecht went to refill the daily preventative inhaler he had relied on for years.
Because his insurance no longer covered it, the price had risen to $539.19.
Cole left without the medication and relied on his emergency rescue inhaler instead.
On January 15, he suffered a severe asthma attack.
His roommate rushed him toward the hospital, but Cole became unresponsive and went into cardiac arrest.
He suffered catastrophic brain damage and was placed on life support.
Six days later, on January 21, his family made the decision to remove life support.
Cole passed away aged just 22.
His parents later sued Walgreens and pharmacy-benefit manager OptumRx, alleging he had received no advance warning of the coverage change and was not offered an affordable alternative.
They argue that losing access to his preventative medication led directly to his fatal asthma attack.
The companies have contested the allegations, and the federal case remains ongoing.
