Tracking what Musk's companies promise vs. what they deliver — with dates. HW3 saga • Robotaxi expansion • Optimus Production Watch, weekly.

If you own a HW3 car, Wednesday night is your night. Tesla reports earnings Wednesday, and shareholders have been voting all week on which questions get asked on the call. One of the most backed questions on the list is the one you have been asking all year. When do HW3 owners get the upgrade? You know the history. Tesla promised HW3 owners a path back in April, a discounted trade in or a computer and camera swap. Six months later there is still no price and no date, and v14 Lite is where your cars stop. The voting closes Tuesday at 4 PM Eastern. Wednesday night Tesla either answers it in front of everyone, or skips it in front of everyone. So, HW3 owners. What do you need to hear Wednesday? A real date? A price you can plan around? Or are you done waiting on soon?

$3.5 trillion on the table and Elon Musk cannot sit in the talks. Tesla and SpaceX just moved their merger from a podcast tease five weeks ago to special committees of independent directors tonight. Musk said it himself on the SpaceX earnings call. Shareholders asked Tesla and SpaceX to explore it. SpaceX is worth about $2 trillion. Tesla is worth about $1.45 trillion. Put Tesla and SpaceX together and it would be the biggest merger ever. Musk runs both companies. That is exactly why he is recused from the talks as a conflicted party. No terms agreed. No merger guaranteed. It could still die in committee. But if it survives, Tesla shareholders and SpaceX shareholders get the vote. And Tesla reports earnings tomorrow afternoon.

692 questions went in for Wednesday's earnings call. The HW3 question is sitting at number 7. Look at the six above it. Cybercab scaling. Unsupervised FSD dates. Buying a Cybercab. Robotaxi cost per mile. What an Optimus costs. When Optimus makes money. Every one of them is about the future Tesla wants to sell. Number 7 is the only one from people who already paid. Tesla has said HW3 cars cannot do unsupervised FSD. The question asks when owners find out if the upgrade is free, and when Tesla shows a real plan. 363,000 shares are standing behind that question. And look how close it is. The Optimus revenue question above it has 366,000 shares behind it. That is not a gap, that is a nudge. Voting closes tomorrow at 4 PM Eastern. HW3 owners who hold shares, this is your question, and it is one spot from passing a robot. Does it climb tonight? app.saytechnologies.com/tesl…

Here are the top 7 voted for questions by retail investors for @Tesla's Q3 earnings call this Wednesday: 1) How does the Cybercab fleet scale past Austin, and what’s the regulatory path outside Texas given NHTSA’s open safety review? 2) When can we anticipate FSD unsupervised in customer cars? 3) When will the CyberCab be available for customer purchase/ownership? 4) What’s the unit economics per paid robotaxi mile, and how does it compare to the thirty-cent target? 5) What’s the cost per Optimus unit, and what does the first paying customer look like? 6) When do you anticipate Optimus will begin generating revenue? 7) Tesla has acknowledged that HW3 vehicles cannot support unsupervised FSD. When will owners know whether they can upgrade their hardware for free, and when will Tesla provide a clear plan?

Midnight is back. Tesla's Robotaxi app is telling Austin riders that Cybercab rides now run till midnight, a full hour past the 11pm cutoff from two weeks ago. Same closing time the service launched with last June, before the August pullback to 10pm. Two extensions in two weeks, and the only gap left to 24/7 is the 12 to 6am window, the one Elluswamy says FSD v15 closes this month. Think October holds?

The only wall left between Rivian and Tesla just got a door in it. Rivian opened sign ups this week for point to point driving, its version of end to end FSD. Invite only, NDA, first owners in California and Florida get it in December. Small numbers. But it is not a slide deck anymore, it is going into owners' cars. Everything else is already even. The R2 Performance is $57,990, same money as a Model Y Performance, thousands less than a Model Y L. It has a Tesla plug built in and charges on Superchargers like it belongs there. Same price, same chargers. The driving was the whole moat. Tesla still owns that moat today. FSD is something any Tesla owner can turn on today. Rivian is mailing invitations. The gap is real, it is just not permanent anymore. So the question lands on HW3 owners. Your cars topped out at v14 Lite and the upgrade Tesla promised in April still has no price and no date. If Rivian's version works in December, how many of you are done waiting?

Honestly this one hits home. Two Teslas in my garage, FSD on both, and I am literally on a road trip on FSD tonight. A federal appeals court just threw out the class action over Tesla's FSD marketing claims. Not because the claims were honest. The judges said buyers could not prove we all saw the same promises before we paid, so we cannot sue as a group. The false advertising claims are still alive. But now every owner fights alone, and one owner against Tesla's legal budget is not much of a fight. The promise at the center of this goes back to 2016. Every car sold since then was supposed to already have the hardware for full self driving. Ten years on, anyone else still waiting for what they were sold?

Back in September the CFO put a $100B ARR target on SpaceX for the end of 2026. October 20 the Q3 numbers land with a live webcast. Four days out, that target gets its first checkpoint.
We will post our Q3 2026 financial and operational results on October 20, 2026. We will host a live audio-only webcast at 3:30 p.m. CT the same day → ir.spacex.com/updates/releas…

Tonight in Texas the Roadster finally did the thing. Tesla showed the car climbing an inverted ramp on thrusters and fans, spinning midair, and clearing five Teslas in one jump. Then it put numbers on the table for the first time since 2017. Here is the ledger from tonight. 620 miles of range became 300. 250 plus mph became 230 plus. Four seats became two. The 2020 production target became 2028. Reservations reopened at 50 grand, the same deposit Tesla was taking nine years ago. Still no price. Musk said on stage this is the actual car buyers will drive, and that owners can do those maneuvers whenever they like. Honestly, after tonight, the 2017 price feels cheap. Tesla priced it at 200 grand back then, 250 for the Founders cars, and took 50 grand deposits. Nothing else on the planet can go up an inverted ramp, spin in the air, and jump five cars. Cars that do way less sell for millions.
Configurations – Performance: road ready, seats 2 Active aerodynamics & multi-mode suction system for next-level performance on & off the track – Thrust: race ready, seats 2 Multi-mode suction system paired w/ rear-mounted cold-gas thrusters that enable 0–60 in <1 second – Rocket: air ready, seats 1 Multi-mode suction system plus perimeter-mounted cold-gas thrusters supporting forward & upward acceleration plus lateral rotational movement. So...yes, it can fly Range >300 miles Top speed up to >230mph (Rocket) 0-60 Performance (<1.6) Thrust (<0.9) Rocket (<0.59) Reserve now – Tesla.com/Roadster

Tires are the limit, so Tesla went around them. The thrusters push with 4 to 5 times the force the tires can even hold. Underneath, a suction system pulls air out from under the car, and Tesla says it is strong enough to hold the car upside down while it is parked. The rear wing is moved by Optimus actuators. Robot hardware, working on the car. It is half car, half spacecraft, and I love it.

Tesla just put it in writing. The top Roadster can fly. The order page is up, three trims. Performance is the normal road car. Thrust adds cold gas thrusters in the back, 0 to 60 in under a second. Rocket seats one person, thrusters all around it, forward, up, sideways. Invite only. Not approved for public roads. Still no price and no dates. But the flying part is not a rumor anymore. It is on Tesla's site.

It actually flew. The Roadster just went airborne on thrusters, live in Waco, vapor pouring off it. A real car, off the ground, on purpose. Butterfly doors, light bars front and back, and Tesla calling it the best of the last human driven cars. Still no price, no range, no top speed. That jump was the whole announcement, and honestly it was enough.

Same money. That is the part people miss. The first Rivian R2s started at $57,990 back in June, the Performance Launch. Tesla Model Y Performance starts at $57,990 today. Same money, same class. The gap is the driving. Rivian today does hands free on the highway. The end to end system, the one RJ says will be very similar to FSD, starts as a small rollout this December and goes wide in 2027. The subscription is cheaper too, $49.99 a month against $99 for FSD. So here is the question for Model Y owners. If the R2 had end to end driving as good as FSD, at the same price, would you jump? Or is FSD only part of why you stay?

Elon set the bar himself tonight. "The new Tesla Roadster is a candidate for greatest product demo of all time" He posted that at 8:54 PM, the night before the reveal. Tesla streams it tomorrow at 7:55 PM Central. The image kind of says it all. 2007 on the left, Steve Jobs holding the first iPhone. That demo is still the one everybody measures against. Elon just put the Roadster in that conversation, out loud, before the car even rolls out. Tomorrow night we see if he is right.

Legacy Model S and X owners finally got v14.3 Lite. So how wide is this, really? Teslascope says the first cars were exactly two. A 2017 Model X and a Model S. One owner has posted his first drives in his 2017 Model X, smoother through roundabouts, speed control much improved, and he says it feels way better than v12. The build is 2026.38.5.1 and Teslascope lists it as North America only so far, at 1.1 percent of its fleet. The latest wave added about 1,210 cars on this build, but 64 percent of those were AI4 cars. Legacy S and X are a tiny slice of it. Who is still in line? Almost everyone else with a legacy car. Teslascope says more testing is needed before wider waves, and owners replying to our post last night are still waiting. Legacy cars also get a smaller version than HW3 Model 3 and Y. Speed Profiles came over. Arrival Options did not. No starting FSD from Park, no reversing, no Actually Smart Summon. For owners outside North America, Tesla has given no date at all for these cars. Europe is the toughest spot. The approval there covers HW4 only, so HW3 cars need their own path, and nobody has announced one. This is also the ceiling for these cars right now. FSD v15 is HW4 only, and the hardware upgrade Tesla promised FSD buyers still has no date. If you have a legacy S or X, did 2026.38.5.1 show up for you? Tell us the year and where you are.

456 Starship launches a year. SpaceX put that number on the FAA docket for Starbase on Tuesday, up from the 25 it is cleared for today. Same Texas site, eighteen times the flight rate. Phase one is 100 a year at any hour. The full rate lands a few years out, weekdays only. Nothing approved yet. Comments run through November 30.

It finally happened for the cars that waited longest. Teslascope spotted the first legacy Model S and X cars getting FSD v14.3 Lite tonight. The vertical screen cars, HW3 with the Intel chip. First V14 Lite build they have ever received. These owners sat on v12 while Model 3 and Y moved to Lite in June and the refresh S and X got theirs on October 7. It also closes the loop from September 7, when Ashok said he thought it was supposed to go out last week. That was the last group of HW3 cars still waiting on V14. Legacy S and X owners, check your software tab. Who got it?

Tesla's Halloween update is splitting HW3 owners. 2026.38.5 brings FSD v14.3 Lite to HW3 Model 3 and Y. But Halloween Mode only runs on cars with the AMD Ryzen chip. Intel cars are left out. The rollout is thin so far. TeslaFi's sample shows 82 cars on 38.5, and Teslascope caught a wave of about 1,430 cars on Monday that ran 92% HW4 and 8% HW3. HW3 owners: Intel or AMD, and what did you get?
