I have a habit of ending up at the 6 O'clock of spooky license plates. In 2016 I even ended up behind a TRUMP plate. But sadly forgot to take a photo. This has nothing to do with the blog does it?

The Terror nearly destroyed the values.
You’re right.
And the Thermidorian Reaction that ended the Terror nearly destroyed them too, from the other direction.
And Napoleon’s empire repurposed them into imperial legitimacy.
And the Restoration tried to undo them.
And 1848 tried again.
And 1871 tried again.
The values proclaimed in 1789 spent the next century being nearly destroyed by nearly everyone.
They survived anyway.
Not because the revolution was pure. Not because the violence was clean. Not because the people holding the ideas held them consistently or wielded them without corruption.
They survived because once you put into political language the idea that a person is not property, that authority requires consent, that equality before the law is not a privilege but a foundation, that idea becomes extraordinarily difficult to fully kill, even by the people who first said it.
The Terror is a real problem for a clean narrative about revolutionary violence.
It is not a problem for the claim that the ideas themselves mattered.

You want to know what "underdeveloped" really means?
It means: your economy was organized around someone else’s needs for so long that it now functions badly for your own.
It means: your agricultural sector produces cash crops for export rather than food for your people because that is what the colonial economy required and the post-colonial debt structure reinforced.
It means: your best-educated people leave for the countries whose universities were built with the wealth extracted from yours.
It means: the infrastructure that exists connects your resources to the port, not your villages to each other, because it was built to extract, not to develop.
"Underdeveloped" as a natural condition, as a starting point, as evidence of cultural or civilizational inadequacy:
That is a lie.
"Underdeveloped" as a produced condition, as the result of a process, as the predictable outcome of what happens when your economy is organized for two centuries around someone else’s enrichment:
That is history.
The word stayed. The history got edited out.
It is still true today. They care more about what happened to their property than they do people.

Gramsci called Trotsky "the whore of fascism".
In 1930s - while Gramsci was dying in Mussolini's prison - Trotsky spent a vacation(!) in fascist Italy(!!); a very strange trip for a supposed "revolutionary", wouldn't you say..🤔? Likely one of (many) reasons for Gramsci's words.
This part of the Bin Laden story has been censored. It contradicts the terrorist narrative. Because terrorist attacks usually come with demands. They take hostages in order to free prisoners. They bomb civilians demanding independence from their colonial masters. Bin Laden made
no demands when interviewed. He denied all involvement. In fact he denied involvement in all of the terrorist attacks attributed to him. Obama decided to extrajudicially murder Bin Laden. When he could have put him on trial. So the US never proved Bin Laden's guilt in court. We
We have three "experts" here on political economy and none of them call the USA what it really is a constitutional oligarchy. The left will always have trouble in electoral politics.

America has no moral crisis over Gaza.
It has a public relations crisis.
It’s not struggling to reconcile values.
It’s struggling to manage optics.
There is no contradiction in funding genocide while preaching democracy.
That’s the brand.
That’s the model.
That’s the American way: burn one village to sell weapons to the next, then call it "stability."
