In an ecosphere of bad or absent information, the best way to analyze the absence of evidence is to notice the messaging of those who operate as if there is certainty.

Annabel Richter was a 19 year old FIT student. She was fed fentanyl by a man named Moises Friere who told her it was cocaine. Friere knew what he was doing â he gave the drugs to two female students and didnât take any himself. While Annabel was overdosing, Friere stripped off her clothes, took photos of her naked body, and then raped her instead of calling for help.
Because of what he did, she is dead.
There are no âI am Jane Doeâ rallies for Annabel Richter. There is no daily coverage of her death on CNN. There are no New York Times investigations creating timelines of her last day. Unless you read local crime news in New York City, you will not have heard about this case.
Why is Cornellâs Jane Doe of so much more interest to mainstream news than FITâs Annabel Richter? Perhaps because news loves to create narratives about predatory white male college students and refuses to make national-news villains of men like Friere, who commit most of the actual crime in places like New York City.
The NYT and CNN arenât lying when they do 50 stories about Jane Doe and zero about Annabel Richter. Theyâre just exercising editorial judgment about which parts of the news you need to hear.

No one is talking about Arizona but their only loss is to undefeated BYU in a close game on the road
I can solve American Obesity for the low low cost of negative 1 Trillion dollars.
I'll take a -1% commission, thanks.
Things Elon Musk could do with $1Tn dollars:
- End world hunger
- Solve climate change
- Provide schooling for every child
- Reduce housing crisis
What Elon Musk does:
- Build a stupid car-toy with no practĂcal use, just to impress a bunch of idiots.
Tesla Roadster should be the last straw. #EatTheRich
Ask yourself why the Cornell7 story - where, culpability aside, nobody died or was even injured - has spent precisely 92 billion minutes in the media cycle, but none of you have even heard of this story [this happened in March].
You don't hate journalists enough.

This is so unabashedly, propagandistically, hilariously incorrect.
Arizona, alone, beat:
⢠#2 Oregon in 2007
⢠#9 Iowa in 2010
⢠#10 USC in 2012
⢠#5 Oregon in 2013
⢠#2 Oregon in 2014

Over the last 20 seasons, Big 12 teams not named Oklahoma or Texas are 1-11 vs Top 10 Power 4 teams in the regular season. The lone win being Oklahoma Stateâs upset over Oregon earlier this year...
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Big 12 teams besides Oklahoma and Texas have multiple regular-season wins over top-10 Power 4 teams in the last 20 seasons, such as Iowa State's 37-31 double-OT upset of then-No. 2 Oklahoma State in 2011.

Communists will simultaneously complain that college is too expensive and student debt is evil and loans are predatory, and then also be fervently opposed to policies like this.
I made the mistake of engaging, and now my timeline is a bunch of face tattoo people who don't know what "Double or Nothing" means
Delayed handoffs getting stymied against BYU's front 7 again. Seth is going to have to get more creative with some screens and wheel routes with Gio out
And just like that we have a good snap & hold, and MSM drills the Field Goal.
Bear Down!
Replying to @UofABarstool
MSM isn't the second coming of Tyler Loop or anything, but he has to deal with the effects of the dreadful longsnapping that FG unit has had all season long. He definitely makes a couple of those misses if the snapper could hit the broad side of a barn once in a while.
The idea of "Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity" is so pernicious because it creates an impossible standard to convict someone of *any* crime, because you can't prove a negative - that the accused was NOT in temporary psychosis.
Lawyers are already being opportunistic.
If you watched this the Lindsay Clancy and youâre certain the Commonwealth proved she was criminally responsible, letâs look at the law.
The jury did not have to decide whether she killed her children. The question was whether the Commonwealth (the government) proved, beyond a reasonable doubt, that she was criminally responsible when she did it.
Not âprobably.â Not âmost likely.â Beyond a reasonable doubt.
Our justice system is meant to hold people accountable while protecting citizens from unjust conviction.
That is why the burden, and the risk of failing to meet it, belongs to the government.
That isnât a loophole. That is how our founders designed the system.
The Constitution places a jury between the accused and the power of the state.
A prosecutor brings the charge.
The government presents its case. But citizens make the final decision: not the prosecutor, not social media and not those of us watching from outside the jury room.
If reasonable doubt remained about Lindsay Clancyâs criminal responsibility, the law required a verdict of not guilty by reason of lack of criminal responsibility, even if you personally believe she is guilty.
If you are struggling with this concept, fine. That simply means you could not serve as a juror.
Objection: Hearsay
I am surprised by the amount of lawyers who apparently are ok with a situation in which a juror would convict while acknowledging the existence of reasonable doubt. If we, as lawyers and stewards of the criminal justice system, are willing to make a mockery of basic due process and the right to a fair trial, how can we expect anyone else to respect these rights in every case, irrespective of how awful a defendantâs conduct is? Moving goalposts in a criminal case based upon how awful the case is should not be normalized.
This is 100% the right call, and for reference, the people whining in the comments about judgement calls are the same ones who call for replacing home plate umpires with robots
