Why do we still do this / Why did we ever start doing this ?? Seeing Owen Hart and a few other military vets at games either fall abruptly or have a technical issue . A waste of a a good operator and family man over some stupid bullshit for a football game.. * As a football fan and someone who played , it’s stupid and has zero bearing on the day
The Airman who was killed during a pregame fast-rope has been identified as Tech. Sgt. Ian Patterson, a Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) instructor. He was a 15-year veteran and the Air Force Special Warfare Enlisted Instructor of the Year in 2022. Rest easy, Ian.

For years, this photo was frequently—and incorrectly—misidentified across internet gun culture as fellow Delta Force member Sergeant Major Mike Vining. Vining himself has publicly (actually in an interview with me me) clarified that the operator in the white shirt is actually Bill Cronin.. -Cronin was a Sergeant First Class (SFC) assigned to Delta Force's A Squadron as early as April 1980, later serving in C Squadron during the 1991 Gulf War.. Bill served with the 46th Co in Thailand training troops for Border Police duty & taught reconnaissance to Thai and Cambodian mercenaries to be used in the secret war

2 bad ass SOB’s shooting the shit!! “Pete Dawkins & John Wayne in Saigon June 20th 1966” 🚨Lotta characters come outta the Vietnam War but one of the most interesting (which says a lot) is Pete.. He is the only person in history to have held the titles of Brigade Commander, Football Team Captain, Class President, Star Man (top 5% of the class), Heisman Trophy winner, Oxford University Rugby Blue and Rhodes Scholar. He is often regarded as the most decorated cadet in the history of the United States Military Academy ⚡️⚔️

July 29, 1967: On the USS Forrestal an inadvertently fired rocket from an F-4B Phantom ruptures the external fuel tank of an A-4 Skyhawk. The resulting chain reaction of explosions killed 134 sailors and injured 161. -Some vets say that John McCain actually caused this incident.. Either way a truly sad day in Navy history. credit: USN Archives

THE CAPTURED T-28 THAT HUNTED A COVERT C-123 Before North Vietnam’s MiGs became famous, one of its first successful interceptions came from a captured American-built T-28 Trojan. The aircraft, No. 963, had originally served with the Royal Lao Air Force before being flown into North Vietnam by a defecting pilot. Hanoi repaired it and turned it into an improvised night interceptor. On 15–16 February 1964, radar picked up an aircraft approaching from Laos. Ground controllers vectored 963 toward the target until pilot Nguyễn Văn Ba spotted a twin engine transport in the dark. It was a C-123 Provider. Ba closed in and fired two bursts from the T-28’s 12.7 mm guns. The C-123 caught fire and crashed near the border. The strange part: Vietnamese accounts say the Provider was carrying a commando or agent team into North Vietnam. That places this little known shootdown inside the much larger clandestine air war already underway, CIA-backed infiltration missions, covert C-123 operations, and the transition toward what became MACV-SOG. The exact C-123, crew, and operator are still unclear. But the basic story is wild enough: A captured American trainer, guided by North Vietnamese radar, shoots down another American-built aircraft apparently carrying a covert infiltration team. No MiGs. No missiles. Just a stolen T-28 hunting in the dark. AIRCRAFT HISTORY JUNKY #AircraftHistoryJunky #T28Trojan #C123Provider #CovertAviation #VietnamWar #SecretWar #MACVSOG #CIA #AviationHistory

Jim Bolen is a former Special Forces operative, who went into Laos and Cambodia on dangerous and top secret SOG operations to the Ho Chi Minh and Sihanouk Trails during the Vietnam War. He was a recon team leader and went on over 40 SOG missions, being extracted under fire from over 30 of them. Bolen in the photo: "It was possibly taken in 1967 or early 1968 at Ban Me Thuot. I’d just got back from the range and was sitting on a bunker. The weapon I was holding was a M-3 Grease Gun with a integral silencer. Normally one member of the recon team carried this weapon. It was a 45 caliber and was used as a RON (remain over night) gun (in case at night someone or something stumbles upon your position and you have to kill them or it without giving away your position) and also for prisoner snatches to get in and out without being compromised. The weapon was reliable but with the amount of ammo needed for a mission it was very heavy." - Jim Bolen

My guest this evening Captain Justin Sapp, a Green Beret detailed to @CIA Team Alpha, the first Americans behind enemy lines after 9/11, walking through Qala-i Jangi on November 27, 2001. Justin is now a Colonel serving at the US Mission to the UN in New York. Here he is carrying an East German AKMS with a 9mm Glock 17 pistol strapped to his thigh - both CIA issue weapons in Afghanistan in 2001. Justin was underwater when the 9/11 attacks began, attending the Special Forces Diving Course in Key West (First Casualty page 25). Aged 29 in 2001, he had briefly been an intern at CIA while a student at VMI - his father Kenneth Sapp was a Near East Division case officer. Justin is believed to be the first American soldier into Afghanistan in 2001. **Note the bullet and shrapnel holes in the vehicle and wall to the left - evidence of the fierce fighting at the start of the Al Qaeda prisoner uprising that began on November 25 and lasted until December 1. Much of that was courtesy of the two AC-130s - Grim 11 and Grim 12 that flew on the night of November 26. Link to interview - youtube.com/live/oxUJqL-xXi0…
