Three days. Ten teams. 27 goals. There is a football mela happening in Islamabad, and the next generation of Pakistani football is on the pitch.
From every corner of the country, young footballers are competing, taking risks, fighting for every ball, celebrating every goal and showing us what the future of Pakistan football looks like.
Referees. Match officials. Ball boys. Technical and scouting personnel. Team managers. Competition officials. The people behind the scenes making sure these young players get to experience football as it should be played: competitively, professionally and to a global standard.
Best of all, entry is free and families are welcome to come and watch.
Just three days ago, on October 1, the championship was formally opened by MNA Anjum Aqeel Khan in a ceremony featuring a march-past by all participating teams, followed by a press conference featuring PFF COO Shahid Niaz Khokhar, PFF Vice President Hafiz Zakaullah, Islamabad FA President and Local Organising Committee Chief Sheikh Ahmed Rehan, and PFF Executive Committee Member Wasim Raja.
With the first steps now taken towards a structured development pathway for youth, the National U-17 Championship marks the beginning of a merit-based, competition-driven system, helping the Federation move away from a predominantly trial-based approach to identifying and developing young talent.
And that is exactly why these U-17s have lit up the competition, with 27 goals and plenty of thrilling encounters already.
Each region has brought its own cultural colours and football identity to the pitch. Each has its own #JoshKeRang.
Three days down. The tournament is only getting started.
27 goals so far. And plenty more football to come. 🇵🇰🦅
