I wanted to recommend a doc to everyone. She’s an endocrinologist specializing in menopause and osteoporosis, and she’s got a substack that’s a great source of info. Why am I so sure she’s wonderful? Cuz I’ve known her for her entire life! Check out my sister! @menopausegodoc

Watching my favorite band @thekillers and my favorite front man Brandon Flowers have a moment on Twitter is so gratifying. I’ve seen them dozens of times, have a ton of memorabilia, etc etc. Of all the things I love about them, it’s Brandon’s lyrics that always floor me.

There is a rhythm to medicine. You’re first exposed to it in med school. The Patient, presenting with the Problem, and then the search for the Path forward. Like the rhythmic thumps and pauses of a heartbeat. Sometimes flowing, sometimes stopping and starting jarringly. 1/

So the lead ant feels its way along my finger, until it finds a way around. One brave ant climbs my finger and makes its way over the top. Both meet on the other side, and the rhythm is re-established. My finger is no longer the end of the road. Just a bump in it. 12/

I finish my lunch, thinking of ants and the trust held within their unbroken line, and get up to head back to work. The sliding hospital doors open and close and I’m enveloped in air-conditioned chill once more and sterile scents and an endless rhythm drawing me forward again

I have this habit of telling my office staff I believe in them. It started as a pep talk thing, but now it’s just how I end almost every conversation with my staff. “I believe in you!” Found this note on my desk after a brutal commute with a long clinic day ahead. We got this!
