The Luftwaffe didn’t just need better bombers - it kept trying to out-invent reality. By the time war actually started, Germany was still leaning on older bombers while the “future fleet” was barely ready. @TheRealDanSharp reveals all in Ep.76! buzzsprout.com/2327200/episo…

My new book (due out in ~5 days) was structurally very challenging to write. I originally planned to underpin it with my usual linear chronological structure but there were so many components that interlocked or overlapped that I found this was unworkable... 1/

It turned out that the only way forward was returning to my initially rejected chronological structure. This, I found, could work if I paid very close attention to the narrative detail. In other words, I had to make the transitions between components feel natural and unforced. 5/

It was necessary to trim back some unnecessary detail while adding in more explanation, to keep the reader on track and up to date at any given point. The end result works, I think, but it took a long time to get there!

The best book ever written on the Bf 109, bar none.
El libro "Messerschmitt Bf 109" de Baumgartl es una biblia sobre el famoso caza alemán. En formato A4, pesa 3 kilos, mil páginas y 4800 citas.

Buy this book, Dan follows the same research methodolgy I use and it is so simple it remains somehow bereft of prizes, 1) Read all the archive information 2) See what it says 3) Put it in the book This book will undoubtedly make many people who have ideas based on reading books written by people who have never bothered reading all the German Air Ministry stenographic records furious, as it may reveal all sorts of inconvenient facts. @TheRealDanSharp is a criminally under-rated historian and researcher, and the best his critics can come up with on forums is that he writes so much that it cant possibly be correct. Dan was my Editor for THE SECRET HORSEPOWER RACE, and I can tell you with total conviction that the reason he writes so much is that he`s just REALLY F***ing good and has inhuman concentration combined with hitman grade journalism skills. Buy ! Buy now !
Just finished writing this, topping out at ~220,000w and ~450 images. It's essentially a comprehensive overview of German bomber development during WW2, including all the unbuilt projects, all the blind alleys, all the arguments, all the backstabbing and all the tech.

Rather apt quote about the process of developing bombers for the Luftwaffe, from my new book.
