Keeping an eye on your inventory value as an Amazon Seller? #OA #A2A
Then keep track of these 3 records :
1. Settlement Reports
∙ Sales ( decrease inventory value )
∙ Returns ( increase inventory value )
∙ FBA Reimbursements ( Increase or Decrease depending on the event )
2. Removal Reports
∙ Disposals ( decrease inventory value )
3. Purchases
∙ Purchases ( increase inventory value )
∙ Supplier Returns ( decrease inventory value )
HOW DO I keep the inventory data accurate?
A. Create a universal SKUEVENT transaction
B. Reconcile Amazon inventory transactions against cost of goods for every SKU sold/returned etc.
C. Reconcile purchases with Amazon Business Reconciliation Reports ( Credit Card Charges for purchases)
D. Reconcile Disposals against Sku Cog.
These are typically records your CPA/bookkeeper would like to look at as well!
🔥 NEXT LEVEL TIP : use a no code tool like @bubble to import much of this data VIA API automatically and run against your purchase cost of goods.
Automatic return checks for Amazon Purchases #A2A
1. Business API check for refunds ( daily )
2. Refunds are checked against line item value/qty
Returns are removed automatically from my queue ONLY when they are refunded properly!
🫢Amazon Seller builds his own app without knowing how to code!
.... And so can you with @bubble
Here's my stack 🫡
- Bubble ( no code builder )
- Amazon Business API
- Selling Partner API
- @postmarkapp for email hosting/ programmatic email
⚙The Workflow ⚙
1-> Purchases/shipment/returns captured via email
2-> Email Order IDs used to pull data from business API
3-> Images, Restriction checker to enrich the line items
4-> Search bar to find purchases
5-> SKU builder to list items on Amazon from the exact purchases!

How to turn Amazon emails into a messaging system to keep track of your orders. #A2A ✅
auto-confirm@amazon.com :
📤 Order details contained here
order-update@amazon.com :
❌order cancelled
shipment-tracking@amazon.com :
📦your order has shipped
return@amazon.com :
↺ return started
payments-messages@amazon.com :
✅ refund confirmed with order ID
Couple these messages with the following:
-> Business API order details
-> VA plus a spreadsheet
-> Email parsing service
-> Feed it through AI ( via API )
Doing OA ?
-> Have AI decide how to process it, including invoice attachments.
The Bottom Line :
Free up the business owners time, and even keep your prep center informed of what's on the way ( automatically )
Amazon Sellers
Do you have a scorecard?
Most sellers track what's already happened. Bookkeeping, sales, returns, and their profit and loss.
But those are LAG measures🫢! AND they don't drive the business. 📈😢
👇Here are my 5 steps to conducting repeatable arbitrage, that you can use too:
Have you heard of pre-cognition?
-> Well LEAD measures help you predict the future, without a crystal ball. Check out the steps:
#1. Know your gap:
If you've been around a few months, you likely have enough data to know if you'll be profitable on a specific product or product category by now.
(Tip: Read this book -> Profit First dives deep into margins for your inventory winners and losers)
#2 -> Build a table for quick reference or invest in software like @SellerAmp to check profitability before you buy.
#3. Don't buy unless it fits your proven business model.
Have a small percentage of profit for testing new ideas. BUT Repeat what works!
#4. Count your leads set/month.
If you want to be alerted for price drops or opportunities, you or your team need to set a certain # of leads to get a certain # of price alerts.
#5. Count your leads purchased/month (value + qty)
If you have x amount of inventory going in and you've calculated the expected profit, you'll have a good idea what you'll get out of it.
You see, it's just a formula and a model.
AND You can keep it in your head, and hope for results
BUT wouldn't you much rather keep track of it and see if you can influence the FUTURE of your business?

Arbitrage books for #A2A 📚
In The Dhandho Investor: Mohnish describes arbitrage as making low-risk, high-reward investments.
“Heads, I win; tails, I don't lose much!”
I have found the RIGHT low supply books to command collectible prices, and others where I don't lose much.
🔑 Selling online?
Here's the ultimate profit secret:
Your success hinges on limited supply.
Whether wholesale, private label, or online arbitrage - the real money is in exclusive buys, supply, or creation.
Scarcity = $$$

Getting your books up to date?
Save yourself some pain.
1. Read Profit First
2. Read the Joy of Accounting
3. Follow @ChrisPotter361 he's got some great posts on bookkeeping and accounting for Amazon sellers.

I'm going to tell you the big lesson I learned from selling many books on Amazon for over $1000 +
And before you say well that's collectible books
And whether you're OA, RA, A2A, wholesale, private label, an Amazon seller or selling elsewhere on the internet ....
THE #1 thing is this :
-> The margin/arbitrage opportunity comes from limiting the supply, or finding limited supply
-> Whether you're finding exclusive #wholesale deals
-like @coreyganim
-> Or building exclusive supply with #privatelabel
- like @Evan_Swanson_ or @RolleWithSteve
-> Or mining the internet for exclusive supply in #OA #A2A
- like @SaulSellsStuff , @FlipAlert or @cleartheshelf
Your results will come from the work you put into building or finding the limited.

Are you even trying to automate your Amazon Business?
Avoiding Code like the plague?
Here are ( 4 ) No code tools to keep your Amazon business organized and automated
> from simplest to most difficult. #OA #A2A
#1 - Spreadsheets :
Yeah Microsoft fooled you into programming.
Did you know you can even connect APIs with them?
You know the data connection other software providers use to sell you a monthly subscription...
@bazill_theG has some great tutorials on medium about connecting the Keepa API to a spreadsheet by the way.
#2 - Email Parsers :
@mailparser @parsio_io are just a few
If you want a visual no code way to ' select ' data from emails or PDF attachments to drop automatically in a spreadsheet or send via a webhook to an app, you can do this on repeat with these tools.
#3 - Airtable, Zapier, Make
Think spreadsheets with extra super powers that are
easy to use. Airtable is an intuitive spreadsheet, Zapier
and Make will help you fill the gaps with extra
connections and functions.
#4 - @bubble is my full NO-code STACK.
Bubble has allowed me to build and connect the following :
Amazon purchase order data captured and passed to a spreadsheet for a Prep Center
- for Amazon to Amazon flips
Getting data from a third party via Amazon (AWS)
- including invoices and shipments
API connections : Selling Partner API, Amazon AWS, Google services, Plaid ( CC data ), QuickBooks, Amazon Business Selling Partner API, AI services like Amazon Bedrock and Claude.
It's also allowed me to map & track the SKU Journey :
Detailing how the SKU passes from invoice to cogs to data for my CPA, prep, inventory management, tracking, sales data and more.
FINALLY - no matter what tool you choose to use remember the return on time you'll get back to make more $ or spend elsewhere.
Here are a few other solid Devs that have mentioned custom code/no code :

Testing out my original Amazon to Amazon flipping App
( built for multiple users now ) #amazonseller
The Problem :
-> Unlike wholesale, #A2A & #OA require a ton of email order processing and data transfer.
-> High volume purchasing can become a real pain.
-> Following up on Cancellations, Returns and Shipping Confirmations means more headaches.
-> Couple that with multiple locations to export that data to: Prep centers, Inventory Lab, SellerBoard, Quickbooks, A2X, internal spreadsheet systems etc...
NOW I'm looking to build this software out to suit Sellers flipping Amazon to Amazon at the moment.
If you want to join the wait-list, comment 'Flip'
Make sure to follow, so I can send you a DM
I only need a very small group, please make sure you are actively flipping on Amazon. 😉
80% of your time should go to sourcing
20% should go to operations
But this is what really happens -> 90% Ops
Stop putting out fires, learn the basics of any spreadsheet, or no code tool and build out your custom inventory management system, Connect it to prep & software tools!
If you're doing online arbitrage right ...
It is exclusive buying below wholesale,
OR exclusive selling above retail.
#A2A #OA #amazonseller
#1 - Public Tracking Values
Competitive sellers may place thresholds above yours.
( $211 instead of $156 for example )
#2 - Expensive to create tracking at scale via the API
It's about $50 USD for 1200 tokens, and not much better for $100 USD at about 3600 tokens.
Marketplace tracking ( ouch )
You don't have time to transfer purchasing data from orders to your :
Prep center spreadsheet, Amazon listings or your bookkeeping.
And VA's can be expensive and error prone when you're doing a ton of #A2A, #OA
Hmm : Maybe software / automations can help?
Here's my process👇
1. Capture all Amazon emails on a custom email/domain
(I use no code tools like postmark and bubble)
> But Gmail can forward emails automatically.
2. I have bubble extract the email details ( you can use something easier )
( There's some code here, but AI can help a lot & Amazon doesn't change the email structure often > So very little maintenance )
3. Here's where it gets interesting :
I post my data to an inventory management system I built,
BUT YOU can build a bulk upload sheet for inventory lab, Boxem (soon?), Scanlister (do people still use this?) or whatever you custom spreadsheet looks like > Including one for a prep center.
My total cost : $25/month
Comment if you're curious. 💬

All software and automations begin with detailed operating procedures.
I feel like David hit on a great deal of 'how to' in his summary of the podcast with @cleartheshelf and @ChrisRacic .
> Don't forget that no code, automation tools, and AI are starting to help a great deal
> I see some automation opportunities with: #12, #14
An absolute banger of a podcast by @cleartheshelf and @ChrisRacic interviewing Eli.
I wrote down a cliff notes version of what I heard that might help others (actually selfishly helps me by writing it all down so I can become a better seller).
Here are 22 take aways that I got from the podcast:
1. Using WhatNot to liquidate bad buys.
- This is a newer platform I just heard of two days ago but great to see how we can incoporate it into our Amazon busniess.
2. Eli sources 90% of his own products and he's doing $500k.
- This is incredible. I love it.
3. Talked with another bigger seller and noticed they get more buy box share in general having more inventory in stock across their whole catalog.
4. He has sites to come back to regularly and has something still in his catalog from 2017.
- I use Link Collect but am interested in what tools others' are using.
5. Blind Spots - He was scared to grow out of fear of being too invested in Amazon and Amazon completely shutting his account down.
6. Find a category you like and dive deeper into different social media channels that talk about it - Instagram pages, Reddit, Facebook groups, etc. Watch the TRENDS - The category is beauty for Eli.
7. Heavy advocate for gift cards - 1%, 2%, 3% doesn't seem like much but at scale, it's thousands of dollars.
8. Uses 10 different cashback sites.
9. Predicting where reselling is going - not going anywhere and will always be around.
- Agreed
10. Amazon is a constant changing landscape and we have to play by the rules. You could literally make millions of dollars at home in your pajamas.
11. Amazon is not saturated, it's just more opportunities. It's more sellers, but it's also more customers.
12. Managing online receipts - use a catchall - one archive and one inbox. Need that for yourself and/or for any employee you bring on.
13. CloudHQ Plugin for authenticity/IP Complaints/account health issues - locates all the emails of all the orders of a particular ASIN (search by keyword) and print all those emails to one PDF.
- LOVE THIS
14. You will need a scanner to scan documents into the cloud if you're doing RA - @fba_dr actually has a good write up on documenting RA purchases.
15. Brought account health and returns back in house versus outsourcing those tasks.
16. Managing orders and missing items - doesn't do a lot of reimbursements from retailers. Loss rate is too low versus a retailer shutting him down. Once a month or so, look for discrepancies for products ordered and products prepped.
17. Hire when you you've maxed out your time efficiency.
18. Lean into debt wisely - ideeally pay off credit cards every month but in a growth phase, 80%-90% is understandable.
19. Most important account health issues - IP complaints, authenticity complaints, expired complaints.
20. SOP for Authenticitiy Complaint - Open SKU Ecomomics on Amazon for ASIN, see how many sold in the last year, find all orders in email, uses Adobe Professional Suite to combine together and attach a POA with it.
21. A total of 4 suspensions. Account was suspended for 2 months at once and with Ed Rosenberg's help, he was able to get back up and running. Eli admitted at least 1 or 2 times was due to neglecting account health issues.
22. Listens to How I Built This - which often interviews owners of beauty brands, beauty being a category Eli focues heavily on. See point 6.
THAT'S ALL FOLKS.
Not my podcast, I only took notes to help me become a better seller. If you read all the way down here, you want to be better too. Let's be friends.
Share this is you found it valuable. Very good podcast!!
I'm 96%+ A2A, but recently I have been thinking about a supplier I've been under utilizing.
The problem: they mess up my cashflow with 30 day net terms + they buy inconsistently for me (but at the best prices I've ever seen)
Solution
bumped up to 60 day net terms (talked to someone)
melio + Amex plum card = extra 60-90 days
Instead of 1 month, I now I have 4-5 months to pay
I got to give some credit to @printleft1 and @coreyganim for mentioning Melio or plum card in the past though!
