Still working on my Frieze London #arthack, will be done by tomorrow I think. But something I've noticed so far from the hacks this year, Art Basel Switzerland was the best footage for me so far, great work and well shot! Armory had the highest number of well shot and high resolution videos online, but the most lackluster work. Apparently in NYC we have more people shooting art than anywhere else. Frieze London seems to have some interesting work, but you really can't see it well bc its all covered by people talking about the art.
We have revived y olde Digital Art Salon that @stellabelle and I ran in 2020 and 2021, with a ne line up, come and hang today!!!
$158 to submit for a Digital Billboard open call for an entity that screens mostly AI Slop on these same screens. These pay to play digital art scams are literally multiplying by the second. Nu biz model, charge people to have AI make art for them, then charge them to exhibit the AI. Brilliant. And u wonder why call AI art polyester …
I hear it! I’ve been through it many, many, many times, in every era.
It’s a rough ride, for body & mind, but if it’s your path and deal, that’s what it is. It’s scary to take a step back to say I need a break or I need to heal, but when you come back everything gets better, including the art.
A good art career should breathe, expansion followed by contraction, then repeat, then it’s alive and you have a lifetime of work that’s truly worth it.
Nobody really talks about what happens to your mind when the life you always wanted finally starts happening.
I went from being overlooked, to finally being seen, to what felt like overnight success.
And I experienced all of it with Bipolar 1 mostly mania.
The attention, the money, the validation, the pressure. It all got in my head.
I could create for days, barely sleep, think bigger, spend bigger, and feel like nothing could stop me. Sometimes I couldn't even tell where the artist ended and the mania began. You start to feel like you're losing yourself somewhere in all of it.
People saw the success. They didn't see the hospital stays, the delusions, the crashes, or everything I went through before.
Going from barely being noticed to suddenly having so much attention on me was a lot for my mind to handle.
Some days I still feel like I’m trying to find my way back to myself.
I don’t have it all figured out.
I just keep making art through it.

Getting ready for Armory #Arthack this week. here's Intersections my #arthack of it from 2021, one of my favorites with my #GlitchOdalisque 2.0 I did 2 NFTs from this in 2021 as well, one was an edition on Rarible, the other a 1/1. I replaced all the backgrounds so it was copyright kosher, as I have done with other #arthack NFTs that have sold. I definitely need to do a sculpture of this!
Taking the Knee with GAN generated paintings, my Genesis Digital Art NFT minted September 2020 on @SuperRare , sold October 2020 for 11 Ethereum. It has changed hands many times since. It was in the Proof of Art a Short History of NFTs from the Beginning of Digital Art pioneering museum exhibition at the Francisco Carolinum and publication curated by @JesseDamiani for OÖ Landes-Kultur GmbH in 2021, the book sold out but I have a copy :-)
Story: in 2020 Art Basel shut down for Covid and moved to a website, since I started the #arthacks in 2016 and would do Art Basel every year, that year I had no fair to hack so I hacked the website with a virtually staged version, it was also June and coincided with the BLM protests all throughout the US and globally as seen on the interne, so I did this figure in a taking the knee pose and iterated in my style. I replaced the artwork in the background with GAN generated art that I collaged, I also replaced all the artwork on the web site with the same. Human made 3d animation, collaged GAN generated 2d painting, and music.
9/11 was an incredibly sad day, one that I've had to revisit this month in written statements. I remember the shock, the horror, and walking past hundreds of people holding photos of their loved ones, crying and pleading with me and other passersby for any sign of their loved ones. I found myself crying almost all the time, and after about 2 months, I finally agreed to give up my Canal Street apartment west of Hudson, after 17 years. It was in the zone, and everything was covered in an inch of dust that I later realized had deceased people in it, and the fumes and smell of burnt plastic were unbearable. I vacated Canal Street on Nov. 30th, something I thought I would never do. This day for me was deeply traumatic, and the days after became a hell of their own. With time, one moves on, but many did not, many never made it alive to move on. Anyways, I'm still here, and I still choose to remember this tragedy.
Big Huge thanks to everyone who came out last night to the @canalstreetshow it was awesome seeing you all, and big congrats to @Shills_81 for curating the awesome show. It was pretty packed, but near the end I got to shoot this when there was more room. A little peak of @EmpressTrash piece in there too ! I spent most of today, crashing on the couch and I don't even drink, but @NFT_NYC & events really require a few days of recovery, but now I gotta go back to animating ...
It was also great seeing @VanArman and his work at the @SuperRare show, and hanging out with the one and only @RebeccaRose bit congrats to @anloremi on another awesome exhibition!
