great example of what can happen when an AI-empowered Artist sets out to achieve a specific vision - building custom tools to explore the design space, vs just accepting "something that looks good" from the slot machine.
Well, as you've probably noticed, there's a controversial discussion going on, and since controversy isn't something I shy away from, I'd like to chip in. Specifically I would like to show example of using Ai acceleration to achieve YOUR vision while maintain absolute control over the result, hence this thread. So here's a tool I've made, which I'll talk about a bit more in the comments. #gamedev #indiedev

Young people actively hate AI. My two younger daughters are 19 and 18, both at universities - one in the UK the other in Italy. Through them, I happen to know quite a few kids their age. And ALL OF THEM seem to universally hate AI. To them it's "something old people invented that we now have to deal with... as if climate change wasnt enough" AI is cringe. When they introduce me to their friends, they literally say "heyya, meet my dad, he's a software engineer but nonono, NOT IN AI, dont worry, hahah". They hate it for flooding their social feeds with slop, ruining music, taking phone scams to the next level, also destroying careers & devaluing their hobbies - why become an architect, this skill is about to become worthless? Why learn a musical instrument if session musicians are already obsolete? The outcome is interesting, though - they're spending less and less time on public social, meeting up IRL, moving their online lives into private group chats with actual verified friends. TikTok and Reels are increasingly cringe-something for old dudes. Which, I guess, might be a net positive after all...

Hey Argon, make me some awesome space timelapses, stitch them together in a video with title cards and a soundtrack
I've been doing some hobbyist astronomy with Argon. Here's one of my experiments, where I tasked Argon with reproducing the first black hole images (from 2017/18) using the same raw data. Argon: - pulled raw 230 GHz radio fringes (UVFITS) from the Event Horizon Telescope archives. - built an interferometry solver using 3-dish closure phases to cancel atmospheric noise - started each run from a plain Gaussian blob with no ring templates or masks - recovered M87* (2017 & 2018) and Sgr A* at a 91% to 98% match of the official EHT images

11 days ago, our team @AnthropicAI launched OSS Scanner to give open source projects free, periodic vulnerability scans from our strongest models, inspired by OSS-Fuzz. Some numbers so far: • ~650 projects applied • 114 accepted • 77 critical and 803 high model-rated findings reported (we haven’t scanned all projects yet) How our reports ended up flagged as malware, and other learnings/updates below 🧵

If they're going to do this with other foreign open weights models, that increases the practical value of American open weights models. Actually it might make sense to set up federal prizes for them
SITUATION DETECTED: The US government is banning DeepSeek from all civilian federal agency IT systems under national security.

💯 i use a glorified chatgpt variant at work to write simple scripts to help me parse shit, or feed it long user manual pdfs so i can ask questions about tedious board bringup / phy reg stuff. it makes that stuff faster & easier for sure. but AI isn’t the 2nd coming of christ
There’s nothing wrong with saying; I like using an LLM coz they make this shit; Easier, faster, more fun etc. Pretending they change the entire game doesn’t make any sense.

Radio Shack would’ve made an absolute killing if they were still around today. This is the age of tinkerers, hobbyists and DIYers. A little Micro Center meets makerspace where you can test fit a cyberdeck display or snag an RTL-SDR and the right coax adapter on a Sunday night.

there already is a permanent underclass. what is new here is the dissolution of the middle class and the dispelling of the fiction of "meritocracy" that tells us we can move freely between the classes
most people are not psychologically ready for the possibility of a permanent underclass

Is Anthropic this dumb? A human is driving the outer loop breaking complex problems down to simple actions stupid agents can execute. Its like saying when a bird is hunting for food it's bottlenecking it's hatchlings waiting for food with their mouths wide open.
Anthropic’s report is basically saying humans are the bottleneck. “Amid this model-driven acceleration, human attention is a constant bottleneck. Claude sessions amount to around 80% idly waiting for human input. As one engineer put it, people are “bottlenecking the agents.”

looking at the denoising trajectories of your flow matching model is so key. Deeply understanding what the model does at diff noise levels helped us tune the timestep shift during pretraining for big efficiency gains It also helped us find the most perceptually lossless few-step inference schedule, which gave us the best possible initialization for timestep distillation
