NOVA SCOTIA: Premier @TimHoustonNS confirmed on @PnPCBC with David Cochrane that the province will not participate in the federal gun 'buyback' program.
"I think we're staying outta that one. There's lots of things police can be doing... and I'd rather them focus on that. 🇨🇦
Always the Canadian solution for the past decade. Instead of asking how we can tax you more, it should be how can the government spend more responsibly. We are spending/taxing more than ever, and what we capture in value had been on a steady decline for 10 years.
Not politics. A moment of silence for a man assassinated while exercising his right to free speech and open debate, once the bedrock of modern democracies.
This is an assault on us all. Left or right, we should all be outraged when voices are silenced by violence instead of challenged with better ideas.
Prime example of not doing any research before you run your mouth. This is a sprawling rural riding that has higher average income than other ridings in our two largest cities in Alberta. I keep this individual on my timeline just to have a constant reminder not to be blindly partisan.
Someone needs to tell @theJagmeetSingh that he should probably target the party that’s absorbing his votes, not the conservatives.

“Thanks for finally ditching your party’s flagship tax on consumption, after years when 50% of the popular was $250 from insolvency and could barely afford the essentials anyway.”
Great timing.
Gas is over 20 cents a litre cheaper today.
You can thank Mark Carney for that.

I’m not sure about the logic.
1) The restricted weapons from before the ban couldn’t be purchased or transferred without a licence. (Those weapons would be traced back to the original owners if used in a crime->tracked registry)
2) practically all civilian owned variants band since the 2020 IOC have not been confiscated due to no program being implemented yet->still in Canadian’s possession, safely stored.
@CCFR_CCDAF ?
136 days since Parliament last sat in Canada, with another 2 months until the election.
Regardless of party, I will not forgive any politician for so blatantly putting party interests above Canada’s well-being, especially during the largest existential threat to the nation.
Some cabinet members who were resigning (to focus on family 🫤) when they were losing their seats just months ago are now running again as the polls shift in their favor. It won’t matter who becomes Prime Minister the same people who have been running Canada into the ground will still be managing the country’s portfolios again.
We were warned years ago, by the both the parliamentary budget officer and the bank of Canada, that our mismanagement of our national finances would put us in a bind if we were ever to run into a crisis…well here we are.
End rant.

I say this with genuine respect, ma’am. If you ignore the country’s problems, especially over the past 5 years, you’re not being honest with yourself. Although I feel the current LPC Gov has mismanaged key portfolios, they aren’t solely responsible. Decades of short-sighted policy have left us dependent on a trading partner that’s now economically hostile, trapping us in this position where we have zero lateral movement.
We need honest conversations about what we’ve done, what we need to do, and not avoiding accountability for purely political purposes. Conservative, liberal, NDP, or green this is “our government” and we need to hold it to account.
I was in Texas this weekend and was asked about my thoughts on US tariffs. I shared my views respectfully and they did to in kind. Almost every one of them said they hoped things got settled and back to business, they liked Canadians. Be pissed at politicians if you want, not the people.
