Inbox: The New York Sirens today announced its 2026-27 Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) regular-season home opener will be played on Sunday, Dec. 6 at 3 p.m. ET against the Boston Fleet, marking an exciting return to Prudential Center. The game is one of six to be played across the league’s opening weekend where all 12 teams are in action Dec. 5-6. The Sirens will later travel to compete in the historic home opener hosted by expansion PWHL Detroit at Little Caesars Arena on Saturday, Dec. 12 at 12 p.m. ET. The complete regular-season schedule will be announced on Friday, Oct. 2.

DeWanna Bonner’s triple prior to the Liberty timeout has restored order for the Dream, 75 - 62. However, New York has kept the margin close all second half, and with two minutes remaining, another run is fully possible.

Han Xu flexes her way to an AND-1 score after faking out Howard through the foul. The second unit keep a rather meandering game interesting in spurts with their valiant effort. Marine Fauthoux scores New York’s second consecutive AND-1 opportunity, as they once again look to break into double figures.

With the closing seconds here in the third, New York’s second unit continues to inspire with a series of scores that put New York relatively back in the game, 58 - 44. Jonquel Jones was off the floor for the ensuing sequence after hobbling back to the bench with a lower extremity hampering.

Through nearly three minutes in the second half, New York has only managed two points and a litany of fouls to in a game that feels lifeless. Astier picks up two quick ones to bring her count to four, and Atlanta gets to comfortably extend their lead.

4:46 left before the half, Dream lead 35 - 24. Atlanta goes on another huge run to bring their lead to eleven points. A look over at the stat sheet reveals 7 steals for the away team, while New York has synergetic-ally given away nine turnovers.

4:52 left in the first, Dream lead 12 - 8. Though with the lead, Atlanta has had to work a little harder for their advantage today’s contest, with New York putting forth a better effort on the defensive side. Atlanta’s own defensive has to be applauded given their lead, but New York is taking the Dream’s best punches and are rolling.

New York’s defensive intensity has Atlanta stalled at eight points midway through the first quarter. Despite trailing with six points of their own, the Libs have remained the wiser to Atlanta’s rim pressuring attack, and have come up with the necessary stops.

Breanna Stewart will rest in tonight’s contest against Dream, with Racquel Carrera earning the starting role in the season finale.

The final game of the regular season comes with an opportunity to end the season in the win column against a Dream squad that emotionally sent the Liberty off their equilibrium. New York has to remember that the other 43 games are in the rear view mirror, and game 44 is all that matters.

New York’s defense continues to be their undoing, as the Liberty can break within the eight/ten point margin between themselves and Atlanta. The Liberty frustration boiled over into a Breanna Stewart technical, giving Atlanta more airspace.

New York, while trailing by nine, have slowed the game down with intentional play inside to force contact and induce whistles. Atlanta’s Rhyne Howard has picked up two within a couple short minutes to accumulate five for the night.
