Lisa Nandy’s response to me just now in the Commons was a disgrace, deliberately conflating anti-Zionism with antisemitism.
In my question, I made it clear that Maccabi Tel Aviv is inextricably linked to — and part of the fabric of — the apartheid Israeli state.
The boycott of regimes such as apartheid South Africa was a legitimate political movement — lasting more than 30 years and recognised internationally as a moral necessity to end apartheid.
To label my stance as antisemitic, as she did in the chamber, is a baseless and desperate smear.
It seems there is nothing she — and this Labour government — won’t do to defend the actions of the genocidal apartheid state of Israel.

The UK is arming Israel. It is conducting surveillance flights for Israel. It is training military personnel for Israel.
A full, independent, public inquiry into the UK's complicity in the Gaza genocide cannot come soon enough.

I understand the need for diplomacy, especially given the current administration in the US. But diplomacy cannot be an excuse for silence in the face of ethnic cleansing—because that’s exactly what Trump’s proposals amount to.
This is a clear moral and legal red line. Either you stand for international law and basic human decency, or you don’t. It’s that simple. And if you can’t take a stand on this, then where will you ever draw the line?

My fear is Labour are going to respond to the Reform surge in their seats by escalating anti-migrant bashing.
This is wrong in principle - but you can see what happened in Europe when “centrists” tried the same strategy.
Spoiler: it legitimised and fuelled the far right.

Tomorrow, MPs will be voting on the call for a ceasefire in Gaza. It is a simple moral choice: do you support the indiscriminate killing of human beings, or do you want to stop the further loss of life?
In the aftermath of horror, we need voices for peace and diplomacy. Instead, our government has given the green light to unconscionable death and destruction.
I condemn the targeting of all civilian life. That includes the deplorable acts of terror by Hamas against Israeli civilians. And that includes acts of terror by the Israeli government against Palestinian civilians. More than 11,000 people in Gaza have been killed, almost half of whom are children.
Without a peaceful and political solution, this cycle of violence will go on and on, and it is the responsibility of members of Parliament to demand an end to the ongoing loss of life. We cannot become distracted from our overriding goal: to bring about freedom, justice and peace for all Palestinians and Israelis.
With every passing minute that the bombing continues, another human being is killed. This must end, now.
I will vote for a ceasefire tomorrow, and I will continue to demand the release of hostages, an end to the siege of Gaza, and an end to the occupation of Palestine. I urge colleagues to do the same.
