“So, am I allowed to leave now?” he asked quietly, his voice dropping to accommodate the intimate distance that still separated their faces. Even as he asked, Silas made no move to step away.

Perhaps he was merely being cautious, keeping @sanslesavoirs close in case the person she had been trying to make jealous happened to look their way again. It would hardly do to ruin the performance halfway through, would it? Yes, that was a perfectly reasonable explanation.

silently urging him to stop whatever he was doing and come to her already. “Buruan, tanganku capek Merrick.” She added with a quiet giggle, and for once, she wasn't going to make him ask twice. @Sacreted

If so, then why didn’t she want to move? ( @TheLastRequiem )

Maybe there was a sad violin playing in the back of her mind, lamenting how quickly it had all ended. “I’m sorry,” Nina whispered, still not pulling away, still keeping her arms linked around his neck as though she owned him. “He’s gone now.”

(…) until his back was swallowed by the darkness of the labyrinth, blending back into the crowd in the main ballroom. Nina then gently stepped on his foot, just enough to let him know that the coast was clear now. A tiny bit of disappointment, however, stirred in her chest.

Her eyelids fluttered as she tried to steady herself amid the rise and fall of her chest. She struggled to trace the floor with her heels, trying to find his foot. It seemed that Harris had now turned around and begun walking away from where he had been standing, (…)

As if this kiss happened only because she and the stranger wanted to kiss each other. As if this were not a staged performance. As if this were real. ... 𝘞𝘢𝘴 𝘪𝘵.ᐣ In a more normal setting, she would have pulled away only to lean in for more.

Well, maybe, for now, Harris Malachi was not the one who mattered here. The way the stranger held her, as though she were his to love, had slowly made the image of Harris disappear from her mind.

This did not have to happen. Whatever kind of kiss she and the stranger were sharing, it did not have to happen. Yet there she was, in his arms, pressing her lips against his as though they had been lovers for the past couple of centuries.

There were more important things to think about than convincing Harris Malachi that she was over him. Lanina knew—she understood perfectly well—that his presence in her life was no longer significant. He was nothing more than a thing of the past, a lesson learned.
