Did some testing on Oracle Database 23c and In-memory… Still amazed by the difference a columnar format can make to performance. Especially aligned with the Oracle In-Memory functionality….
I need help saying 'columnar,' fast! Struggling with data analysis paralysis? Discover the magic of Database In-Memory (faster results, no changes to SQL) at our Hands-on Lab at Oracle DatabaseWorld. Witness the power of columns & execution plans! #DBA #SQL #DataAnalysis #ocw

Periodic reminder that Oracle has four columnar compression types: don't blindly use the default Query High. If you have more than 512 columns, you are likely to get better compression and performance from Archive Low. If you are on all-flash-storage, try Query Low.

"I shouldn't have to provide a test case for you to solve my issue" is certainly a new take on someone asking for assistance. 😂

Oracle: did you know you can set a sql_id scope for events? Scopes are specified like this: alter session set events='trace[NSMTIO][sql:7wdzwrzvj056j] disk=highest'; Only that sql_id will be traced, which cuts down on noise. Very useful for: sql_trace[sql:8kybysnu4nn34]

Oracle Wide Tables: I hope this goes without saying, but don't try using 19c clients with 23c tables that have more than 1000 columns. The behaviour will be undefined. You need to use 23c clients to access 4K columns.
