ALT Happy 626 Day! Today we celebrate Disney’s favourite extraterrestrial troublemaker, “Stitch”, also known as “Experiment 626”. To mark the occasion, we’re showcasing this stellar artwork by Hawaii’s own David Nakayama from the “Lilo & Stitch” #1 variant cover published by Dynamite Comics. Since crash-landing into our hearts in 2002, Stitch has reminded us that family isn’t always the one you’re born into. Through laughter, chaos, and a little alien mayhem, Lilo & Stitch introduced the world to the meaning of “Ohana” where nobody gets left behind or forgotten. More than two decades later, the story’s message of family, acceptance, and belonging continues to resonate across generations. How are you celebrating 626 Day? What’s your favourite Stitch moment? #TheHeroCollection #626Day #LiloAndStitch #Disney The Hero Collection Disney Disney+ Saturday Morning Cartoons from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s Rob Paulsen - Voice Actor

ALT Super Mario Bros. opened in theatres 33 years ago ‘This Ain’t No Game!’ Long before video game movies became the hottest power-up in Hollywood, “Super Mario Bros.” (also known as “Super Mario Bros.: The Movie”) took the leap from console to cinema with a warp-pipe ride unlike anything audiences had seen before. Starring Bob Hoskins (Mario Mario) and John Leguizamo (Luigi Mario) as gaming’s most famous plumbers, the film transported Mario and Luigi to a strange parallel world where dinosaurs never went extinct and King Koopa had plans to rule them all. Talk about a kingdom in need of some serious pipe maintenance. While its reputation has evolved over the years, “Super Mario Bros.” remains a fascinating piece of gaming and movie history: the first live-action film based on a Nintendo property and a bold attempt to turn an 8-bit adventure into a big-screen blockbuster. “Super Mario Bros.” was released in theatres on 28 May 1993.

ALT Return of the Jedi premiered in cinemas 43 years ago. Before every trilogy needed a “final chapter” and before the internet turned every cameo into hyperspace-speed headlines, audiences packed cinemas to witness the epic conclusion to the original Star Wars saga. “Return of the Jedi” arrived in 1983 with massive space battles, daring rescues, lightsaber showdowns and enough Ewok mania to completely overtake toy shelves across the galaxy. From “Luke Skywalker” stepping fully into his Jedi destiny to the unforgettable battle above Endor, the film delivered spectacle, heart and redemption on a galactic scale. Richard Marquand brought the trilogy home with style, while George Lucas proved that even the darkest villains might still have a little light left in them. “Return of the Jedi” (later retitled as Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi) was released in cinemas on 25 May 1983 © Lucasfilm Ltd. ALT Video Game Box Art Showcase Mortal Kombat II (1993) – by Midway ROUMD TWO, and it hits harder. “Mortal Kombat II” stormed the arcade as the sequel that didn’t just level up, it uppercutted expectations. Building on the bone-crunching blueprint of the 1992 original, it sharpens the combat, deepens the lore, and unleashes a fresh arsenal of brutal finishers that turned “Finish Him” into a cultural catchphrase. This time, the fight leaves Earthrealm behind and steps straight into Outworld, where warriors battle their way up the ladder for a final, fatal audience with “Shao Kahn”. The stakes? Higher. The hits? Harder. The fatalities? Let’s just say… more creative. Its arcade dominance didn’t stay confined for long, with ports landing across: 🩸 MS-DOS 🩸 Amiga 🩸 Game Boy 🩸 Game Gear 🩸 SEGA Genesis 🩸 32X 🩸 Sega Saturn 🩸 Super NES 🩸 and PlayStation Released in November 1993 to massive acclaim, “Mortal Kombat II” didn’t just continue the fight, it finished it… flawlessly.
