ALT Did you know there is a 13-year age disparity between health-span and life span? We can do better. What this means is that although people may be living longer, those years are likely not filled with vibrant health. When we ask patients what their optimal goal for health is, we often hear that they want to continue to stay active and die at an old age without prolonged illness or disability. Unfortunately, this is not the trend we generally see. Our goal is to help our patients live full lives, where the health-span matches the lifespan. By eating a healthy, genetically guided diet, staying physically active and reducing inflammation we can extend the health-span and help our patients meet their goals. https://newsroom.heart.org/news/living-longer-is-important-but-those-years-need-to-be-healthy-ones?preview=b5b6 January 29,2020
