Another Price To Pay (Official Visualizer) | The Grei Show
A Kingston reggae record about what every step forward costs, paired with its official visualizer. Press play and listen through to the end. #Reggae #TheGreiShow
A full live show archived on a streaming platform is becoming as important as the album itself. For African and Caribbean artists, a well-shot live set is often the first thing a new international fan sees, so the stage production matters as much as the studio.

The hardest part of running an independent label isn't finding talent. It's saying no to good ideas so the great ones get your full attention.
Focus is the one budget an independent never has enough of.
Live Reggae on Bob Marley Beach: The Mexican-Jamaican Connection
A live moment from Reggae Month on Bob Marley Beach, sharing the music with friends from Mexico. Reggae was born in Kingston, but it has fluent speakers in every language now. #Reggae #LiveMusic
A 2008 record from a Barbadian superstar climbing back into the Global Spotify top 100 on Halloween weekend is a strong case for catalog value. When a song becomes attached to a season, it keeps earning, so writers and labels should think about where a record will live long after release week.
‘Disturbia’ by Rihanna re-enters the Global Spotify chart at #96 with 1.53 million streams.
Production note: send your mix to mastering with room to breathe.
Peaks around -6 dBFS, no limiter on the master bus, and no clipping on the low end. A mix that is already limited forces the mastering engineer to undo your choices before they can improve anything. Headroom is what lets a reggae bassline stay round and heavy when the record gets loud.

Dinero Code: Official Music Video on a Wheel It! Records Riddim
Bopp Dymond and Poseck Jr. on vocals, the riddim from Wheel It! Records, and I was behind the camera as director of photography. A dancehall and reggaeton crossover connecting Kingston and Madrid. Out now everywhere.

Long gaps between albums are a luxury most independent artists cannot afford, but the time often shows in the work. The real test of a comeback is whether the new songs speak to who the fans are today, not who they were the last time.
My Chemical Romance have confirmed that they'll spend 2027 working on their first new album in more than 16 years.

Production note: in a one drop, the kick lands on beat three, so give that hit room. A short sidechain that ducks the bass by only 1 to 2 dB on the kick, with the release timed to the tempo, lets the drop punch through without flattening the bass melody.

Themed residency nights like this turn a concert into an event fans plan their year around. As a label owner, I see the release and the live show increasingly built as one experience rather than two separate campaigns.
Does a song age, or do its listeners?
The same record can sound like rebellion at seventeen and like comfort at forty. The audio never changed. Maybe a classic is partly a record of who we were when we first heard it.
Dubplate Session in Kingston with JNR Reid
A dubplate is a custom version of a song voiced for one sound system, and it remains one of the most personal traditions in Jamaican music. Every take is recorded with that specific crowd in mind.

A solo single after a group era is a different production brief. The arrangement has to frame one voice and one identity, and the visual has to establish that world in the first few seconds.
Production note: high-pass your reverb returns somewhere around 200 to 300 Hz on reggae and dancehall mixes. The vocal keeps its sense of space, while the kick and bass stay clean enough to translate on a sound system and a phone speaker alike.

Dance Culture Meets New Music: Vania Colours Moves to The Grei Show
Watching a dancer interpret a riddim is one of the best tests of a mix. If the body finds the pocket, the record is working. Here is dancer Vania Colours moving to my latest release.

Records that return to the chart years after release are the strongest argument for building a catalogue instead of chasing one big week. A great song keeps finding new listeners long after the campaign ends, which is why every Wheel It! Records release is treated as a long-term asset.
Mastering "The Vibe" with Big Sugar through Howie Weinberg reinforced a lesson I apply to every record: a great master does not create excitement, it reveals what is already in the mix. If the low end and vocal balance are not right before mastering, no engineer can rescue them. Get the mix to 95 percent, then let the master finish the last 5.
