I asked for a disability accommodation.
Then I apologized.
I write about that gap — disability, design, and being human in tech.
Follow if you want more of it.
📖 I'm writing a memoir: My Life, on My Terms! I've lived more life than most would imagine. And YOU could be part of the book. 👀 Read the announcement on my Substack, The UX of Life. #MyLifeOnMyTerms
A new chapter is taking shape—this time, on the page.
I have something personal to share tomorrow. More soon.
For decades, speech recognition couldn't understand my dysarthria. Now I write articles with ChatGPT Voice. Just. By. Speaking. Find my new story at The UX of Life. #Accessibility
Did you know the 7% disability employment goal for federal contractors was eliminated just before Disability Employment Awareness Month? This is very concerning. It wasn't a quota. It helped employers identify barriers. #NDEAM2026
Despite two degrees and professional experience, I spent years simply trying to find employment. My first salaried corporate job came at 39.
Cerebral Palsy came with a jump-scare feature.
I’d like a sensitivity slider. And frequent-flyer miles.

She knows me by name and greets me with a hug. Proud of our Lowe’s EVP Seemantini Godbole on TIME’s 2026 Executives of the Year: Tech and Data list!

Lowe’s was my first job. I was 39. Over 2.5 years later, I’m still there.
Why did it take 39 years?
In August 2026, 39.8% of Americans ages 16–64 with disabilities were employed, versus 74.6% without disabilities.
We MUST do better!

New on The UX of Life 🎶
Beautiful Chaos: my years in Tampa's music scene — open mics, college radio, managing bands, and one unforgettable night on the Hard Rock stage.
It was messy, unpredictable, and I loved it.

Muse is getting kinda crazy. 👀
It’s helped me lower my phone bill, find accessible-tech brand deal opportunities, and grow my social accounts.
An AI agent actually helping me get things done? Okay, I get it now. 🤖

In 2013, my TEDx talk was called “Disabled? I Don’t Think So.”
Today: I AM disabled. Disability is not a bad word.
I’m sharing where I was then—and how my thinking has changed.
Ask what language someone prefers: person-first (“person with a disability”) or identity-first (“disabled person”). There’s no right or wrong answer for how someone describes themselves. Respect their choice.
