It’s a conversation I didn’t fancy having. It’s a piece that I didn’t enjoy writing. But I’m glad I did because the first step to dealing with racism is calling it out, however uncomfortable it is to do so. Thanks to @theagesport for letting me have my say theage.com.au/sport/cricket/…

If you think racism has gone away, think again: My experience at Australian cricket venues

If you are one of those who thinks racism has gone away in Australia, then just listen: It never did. If you look a certain way in Australia, you end up copping it on a daily basis.

Hear something racist, offensive or a bit on the nose? Worried a project isn't diverse enough? Speaking up may seem daunting - you may be worried you won't make a difference. But, as Tanya Hosch (@tanyahosch) points out, this is the kind of ongoing allyship that affects change.
A photo of Tanya Hosch at Future Women's NAIDOC Breakfast Panel. Her quote reads: If I had a dollar for every person who told me after a meeting, ‘oh my god, I’m so glad you said that’. Can you just say it in the room? You don’t have to speak for us but you can make it clear that you agree and amplify.

It’s been so good to see so many people get around Eddie Betts. It really feels like when it comes to elite athletes we’re starting to change. I really want this to translate to the everyday person who raises concerns of racism in their workplace, sports club or friendship circle
