Yes, disrespect the work of Steve Downes and the work of Jen Taylor by removing the best work they've ever done in the franchise's history by making it no longer canon. Halo 4, Halo 5, and Halo Infinite stands as some of their best work in franchise history. Deny it if you want. If Xbox is dumb enough to do that, Halo is as good as dead, and I will certainly never again support the franchise, and neither will many others. If people were claiming Halo was dead before (falsely), they'll know what death actually looks like if they dare try such a stunt.

No, that's how things have always been under 343. People just don't know that because most don't follow the lore closely. After Halo 3, one could imagine the Forerunners were an offshoot of humans that had departed Earth. 343 just pushed that split back a few million years.
