Todd's tips for Murray Bridge (units) Race 1 No 5 Kookaburra Bear (4U at $2.5) Do think we start odds on here been no money for these first starters and I remember these dogs from coursing a while ago and they didn't go flash. Race 6 No 8 Victa Howard (2U at $2.25) Thought we would be fav over the #7 narrowloy. We will jump fair and then start to muster if we don;t get held up for a run we should be able to get to the front runners late. Race 9 No 2 Classic Retro (3U at $1.75) This isn't a strong race and this girl went super first up in SA at Angle Park. Jumped well enough that a repeat of that should see her get the result here.

Run of the Month for August has been jointly won by Bandit Daryl for Lauren Harris for his run at Angle Park on 13th August in the State Final of the National Distance Championship and Tip A Hat trained by Bosko Stamenkovic for his performance at Murray Bridge in a Maiden on Friday, 21st August. Bandit Daryl showed his staying potential over the 730m, after an okay beginning, he was making steady progress to second on a heavy track however, off the back straight seemed to get on heels and lost momentum. He balanced up and then came charging home to claim victory by almost a length in 43.28 in a sizzling final section. Tip A Hat was having his first career start over the 395m at Murray Bridge. With plenty of unknown pre race he stamped himself as an exciting prospect for the future after he was able to find the front and race away to victory in a blistering 21.95 in winning by an ever extending 14 lengths. Only a handful of greyhounds have ever broken 22 seconds over the Murray Bridge 395m let alone a first starter.

Greyhound of the Month for August was Lil Rex for Tony Hinrichsen, making it back to back awards. He had a very consistent month of racing winning 4 for of his 5 starts and was placed second on the other occasion. He started the month off with a lead up win before the Nationals at headquarters over 730m before he ran second in the State Final of the National Distance Championship where he was just run down on a heavy track. From there, three wins ensued again with a 6 length win over the 730m, a 7 length win over the 595m and Murray Bridge for a 2 length win over the 680m. Lil Rex’s record at the end of the month stood at 31 starts, 17 wins, 6 placings with earnings over $90,000.

Todd's tips for Angle Park (10 units) Race 1 No 2 Springvale Star (0.5/1.5U at $3/$1.7) Last start win this dog found plenty, I'm not sure if it was a fluke run or the penny dropped but at the odds I'm happy to roll the dice that we get out chasing the #5 who will lead. Race 2 No 1 Our Secretary (2U at $1.8) Last weeks run first up over 500m was top notch and a simple repeat of that will her win this, better draw as well and should beat the #2 out. Race 5 No 7 Double Helix (0.5/1.5U at $5/$1.5) First up for over 4 months and coming off a hot stewards trial this dog has FFA abilty but has had niggles his whole career. If he is and stays sound he can test this race and more moving forward Race 6 No 5 Dashing Starlett (0.5/1.5U at $6/$1.75) Draw is bad, price is good, jumped well last wee and got crowded to the turn, the same could happen here but I was expecting us to be $4 at best. She's shown that she has took the next step in her career and ready to take another. Race 8 (split) No 4 Victa Spencer & No 8 Big Diesel (1U both at $4.6) Can split these 2, thought the #8 would be fav in an open race and can lead this field but must ping to cross. The #4 should beat it's neighbours out and muster well and hit the line great last week, should improve. #weloveourdogs #bestbets

MAN FROM THE MOUNT MAIL RACE 5 – COSTLY HABITS (Box 8) Back after a short break and looks well placed here and hard to beat today in time-graded company for Hamilton trainer Lorraine Goodwin. RACE 8 – LEGACY TO BURN (Box 8) Competed well last week at first run out of maiden class when running a close second to Compute. Should be better for the run.

Lil Rex produced the most dominant performance of at Gawler on Sunday, powering to a 14¼-length victory over 643m in 37.22s for trainer Tony Hinrichsen. With honours spread remarkably evenly all 11 races were won by different trainers.

Terrific Nero secured the feature 2026 Country Cup Heat at Murray Bridge on Friday afternoon, completing a productive meeting for trainer Liz Chegia, who also prepared the remarkable veteran Fantastic Spike. The 2026 SA Oaks and SA Derby Finals provided the feature events at Angle Park on Thursday night, but there was plenty happening around the two age-restricted classics across a strong 12-race program.
