Hey engineers, The Moon has no atmosphere, which means there's nothing to slow down a rock heading for your head. That's not a plot device, that's physics — and with 1.0 it becomes a game mechanic. Meteorites are one of the new events. They come alone or as a shower, and you don't get to pick the time or the landing spot. Our developers insist it's completely random. We believe them about halfway. While your base is small, this is more of a gift: most rocks land in empty terrain and leave debris that can be rich in resources, including rare minerals. For a while, you'll be glad to see every impact. Then the base grows, empty space runs out, and a meteorite starts landing exactly where you spent three hours in Planning Mode. The gladness ends. For that stage there's the anti-meteorite laser cannon. It shoots rocks down on approach, but not for free: every shot costs one energy cell, followed by a recharge. One cannon doesn't cover the whole base, so decide what to protect first — the reactor or the bar. Officially, a shot costs one energy cell. Unofficially, add a few hundred nerve cells from every colonist who happens to be on shift outside at the time. For more details, visit our server: discord.com/invite/the-crust

Hey everyone! 👋 We've been quiet for a while — and for a good reason: the whole team has been heads-down on the big update for the 1.0 release, coming September 10. Today I want to show you one of the features I'm most proud of — Planning Mode. Why it exists Sound familiar? You map out a big section of your base, start building — and halfway through you run out of resources or hit the CPU limit. Planning Mode fixes exactly that. Now you lay out the entire build as "ghosts" first, see the exact resource cost of the plan, and then construct it at your own pace. What it does • Plan modules and conveyors, including ones you haven't researched yet — design your base several technologies ahead. • Shows the total resources required to complete the plan. • Switch any line or module between "ghost" and "construction" states — in both directions. Can't afford every line? Leave them in the plan and build only what you need right now. • Pause the construction of any module — one button in its panel sends it back to ghost state. • Copy modules together with their recipe settings: CTRL+C / CTRL+V (or a side mouse button). Controls • Add to plan: hold ALT in Build Mode, or toggle Planning Mode on the toolbar. • Build what you've planned: hover over the object or open its panel → Build. Requirements: the module is researched and your base has enough free CPU capacity. • Toggle conveyors ghost construction: the dedicated tool on the toolbar, or ALT. Video and screenshots below — it's much clearer in motion.

Hello everyone! From time to time, we receive messages and emails from you asking us to support the development of The Crust. Some of you ask about Patreon or whether we’ll launch another Kickstarter campaign. We don’t plan on holding large-scale fundraisers of this kind. However, we still want to offer something extra for those who wish to support a high-quality 1.0 release and the game’s continued development. That’s why we’ve decided to release a Supporter Pack. store.steampowered.com/news/… The “Supporter Pack” is not required to complete The Crust; it includes one new module, as well as cosmetic and non-game items such as the artbook and wallpapers. However, we hope these bonus items will bring a lot of joy to The Crust’s most dedicated fans. We’ve also put together the long-awaited The Crust: Artemis Edition bundle, which includes the base game The Crust, the Supporter Pack, and the original Complete Soundtrack Pack - adding 10 new tracks to the game and granting access to all of our composers’ tracks in high quality - with an additional 20% discount: store.steampowered.com/bundl… Please note: If you previously backed the game on Kickstarter at a qualifying tier, we have already sent you a Steam key for the Supporter Pack via email and through your Kickstarter messages. Thank you for all your support, feedback, and ideas - it really means a lot to us and helps us continue to make The Crust even better 🚀

A monumental step in the exploration of the Moon! On April 1, NASA launched its first crewed test flight as part of the Artemis program. The ten-day mission includes multiple phases aimed at demonstrating the systems’ ability to support crew life, testing communication and navigation, rehearsing emergency procedures, and conducting close-range observations of the Moon. During the mission, the crew will perform a flyby of both Earth and the Moon before concluding with a splashdown in the Pacific Ocean. The first crewed mission to the Moon since 1972 is exciting in itself - but that’s not all. Artemis II may also set new records: - The Orion spacecraft is expected to travel a record distance from Earth - approximately 402,000 km. The previous record (400,171 km) was set by Apollo 13 in 1970. - For the first time in history, four people will travel beyond low Earth orbit simultaneously. Previously, the maximum was three - the crew of Apollo 13 in 1970. - For the first time, a woman, an African American, and a Canadian will travel beyond low Earth orbit. Humanity is steadily reaching a new level in space exploration, and Artemis II will be an important step toward the first crewed missions to Mars. Perhaps in the near future, lunar exploration will no longer seem like science fiction, but will become a new reality. Let’s hope the mission goes smoothly and doesn’t run into any bugs :) Image Credit: NASA

Hello everyone! Today, NASA announced their plans to establish a base on the Moon. The project will be carried out in several stages: sending equipment, building semi-habitable infrastructure, setting up regular logistics, and supporting long-term human stays on the Moon. Ultimately, the goal is to create a permanent presence that will serve as a foundation for future lunar and Martian exploration. We’re thrilled that lunar exploration is about to reach an entirely new level! And while not everyone can travel to the Moon just yet, there’s no need to be disappointed. With The Crust, you can step into the role of a Moon base director - without leaving Earth. By the way, as part of the spring sale on Steam, the game is available at 40% off! We’d love to see you join the ranks of lunar explorers. store.steampowered.com/app/1…

Hey guys! The upcoming update will introduce a handy new feature: the Transport menu. There you can see all your vehicles along with their current status, tasks, arrival times, and cargo. The Transport menu also lets you jump directly to any vehicle on the map. Check out the video below!

Hey everyone! In addition to the overall improvements to the surface map, we will also refine drone movement. Drones will have more space to move freely, which should help prevent them from getting stuck. We will also fix a visual bug where drones would sometimes move through uneven terrain instead of properly following the surface. Thanks to the increased space for movement, drones will no longer need to go around the large hill on the surface of the base - they will be able to pass through the low pass between the two larger hills. You can see this in the attached video.

Hey guys! While we’re working on the next update, we’d like to share a preview of what’s coming. The surface map of your base is getting an upgrade - there will be more space to build! To make construction more intuitive, we’ll also be adding a grid so you’ll be able to see exactly where modules can be placed.
