This is Donald Trump's sole contribution to the crucial debate over the future and safety of AI. We live in the worst timeline. We live in Idiocracy. It feels like early 2020 all over again.
Trump: Super intelligence or SI, and that's the official name in the United States. I'll be signing a very powerful executive order. I spoke to President Xi. He loves it. When you say artificial intelligence, it's artificial. This is extreme intelligence. It's superior intelligence. It's supreme also intelligence. But the word super is the best word of all and it's the simplest.

A silver lining of this drought is that it's good practise for the government's plans to triple data centres. Up in London.

β€œYou just said that 10% doesn’t seem an unreasonable estimate that AI could kill all humans” β€œYes” β€œWow… oh my God.” @vicderbyshire speaks to Nobel Prize Winner and so-called β€˜Godfather of AI’ Geoffrey Hinton about predictions by an Anthropic researcher that there’s a more than 10% chance AI could kill all humans within a decade. #Newsnight

One of the biggest stock market bonanzas in history is being driven by an industry in which several of its own employees and leading lights think that what's being built could cause complete human extinction.
Jacob is correct hereβ€”we really do earnestly believe AI could kill all humans! I personally think it is >10% within the next decade. I believe Anthropic is trying its best, but we do not yet have a plan to solve alignment for superintelligence and are not clearly on track to.

The accusation that I am antisemitic is appalling and fundamentally dishonest. Criticizing the actions of the Israeli prime minister, a military technology contract, or the executives who supply it is not the same as criticizing Jewish people. This critical and necessary dialogue is then dishonestly framed as being anti-Israel.Β To be clear, my views come from my own political convictions and should never be interpreted as hostility toward Jewish people, for whom I have deep love and respect.Β  Everything I know about acting, activism, and humanism has been profoundly shaped by the Jewish friends, colleagues, and loved ones who have been integral and family throughout every point of my life. This merger has real consequences for real people, and for the entire country. Scrutinizing the Ellisons, including Oracle’s business built on data, surveillance technology and government contracts, and the serious threat to editorial freedom and the loss of a livelihood for thousands of families, is fair and necessary. The $111 billion deal would hand one family control over CNN, HBO and Warner Bros., backed in part by foreign money whose influence on editorial decisions has never been fully explained to the public.Β  Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have called for serious national security review, and regulators still haven’t given the public a real answer. Until they do, the merger shouldn’t move forward.Β Now is the time to dive boldly into all these issues, not step back or concede.

Here’s a new attempt to reconstitute that holy grail of missing #DoctorWho photos - the sole β€˜narrative’ shot (that we know of) from The Edge of Destruction. Jacqueline Hill, William Russell, Carole Ann Ford and William Hartnell cower from the melted Westminster Abbey Skeleton Clock on the TARDIS set in Lime Grove D on Friday 17th January 1964. The picture was printed just once - in the Radio Times on the week of transmission. It’s basically just a load of halftone dots, but stacking multiple scans from different copies helps a bit. After that it’s just endless Photoshop toil. I know it’s not perfect, but at least it looks a bit more like an actual photo now. The halftone wasn’t particularly flattering to the cast’s faces, but I’ve tried to stay as true to the original expressions as I could without making them all look like literal monsters! Oh and I coloured it in as well, natch.
