Hello #PortfolioDay!
I illustrate extinct animals and their environments.
Reconstructed Camarasaurus with a "beak" back in 2021. (As it was suggested by previous papers.) Nice to see more work being done on the topic. I might update my reconstruction at some point, just to detail it some more.
NEW STUDY DROP🚨
SAUROPOD BEAKS CONFIRMED?!
New paper takes different analytical approaches to reconstructing the oral tissues of extinct archosaurs, using Camarasaurus as a model.

Another cool video on a specimen I prepared at the Oertijdmuseum.
It wasn't without its hurdles, but the result is a a very spectacular phytosaur skull.
Meet what today is dubbed #Paleorhinus cf. arenaceus, a primitive Phytosaur at the Oertijdmuseum, collected from Poland, spectacularly preserved and prepared,
At ~10’ long, it superficially looked like a modern gharial, albeit with a nose much closer to the eyes.

Some preparation by yours truly on that skeleton. I also prepared the skull with teeth.
#Metoposaurus the predatory pizza box!
These fantastic original material specimens from Poland are on display at the Oertijdmuseum in Boxtel, Netherlands.
The skeletal mount is a nicely done composite.

A very successful dino digging season in Wyoming with the Oertijdmuseum, as we uncovered a disarticulated Triceratops skeleton with skull! And right after, we've found another Edmontosaurus as well. It's been lots of fun!
Visited the Black Hills Museum for the first time earlier this week. Such incredible specimens on display. Like a cast of a fully articulated Triceratops!

Triceratops skull Veronica was unveiled at the Oertijdmuseum today! It's very well preserved and probably the most complete Triceratops skull on display in Europe.
Progress on the Oertijdmuseum Edmontosaurus "Monty". Finally uncovered the overlapping tendons on our first block! Nice to see how articulated the bones are on this side.
We have most of the skeleton, but it's in such hard boulders it will take a few more years to finish.
Incredibly sad to hear of his passing.
I and many others won't ever forget him and his musical translation of prehistory.
Big progress on the Oertijdmuseum Triceratops skull!
It's a little dusty and some pieces have yet to be attached, but it's standing upright. It might just be the best Triceratops skull in Europe.
Meet Spinosaurus mirabilis.
I got to see the material and skull reconstruction in the lab last year. Lots of people have been working hard on getting this described for quite some time and it's great to finally see it published.
And here's a Nat Geo article on their discovery: nationalgeographic.com/scien…

Last summers spoils arrived at the Oertijdmuseum today. Lots and lots of dinosaur bones, and even an articulated Edmontosaurus skeleton!
Aurora, a Morrison sauropod composite skeleton. It was recently added to the dinosaur parade at the Oertijdmuseum and is our second diplodocid mount.
Diplodocid bones galore and aplenty at the Oertijdmuseum. Here some photos from a while ago of the construction of Aurora (a composite of two specimens). The skeleton was on display elsewhere for a month and is now being mounted in the Oertijdmuseum. Photos of that coming soon.
I did some more preparation on the phytosaur skull some time ago and finished it up. It now includes more of the right mandible and the tip of the left mandible including the full mandibular rosette.

Sketched this little guy eating a mammal earlier this year, although I didn't actually know what to call it then.
I guess we do now. Welcome back Nanotyrannus!
