Slow down and remember this: Most things make no difference. Being busy is a form of laziness—lazy thinking and indiscriminate action. Being overwhelmed is often as unproductive as doing nothing, and is far more unpleasant. Being selective—doing less—is the path of the productive. Focus on the important few and ignore the rest.

Coercion is not consent. It's not possible to be a "willing participant" in a manipulative dynamic.

This is just not true. Narcissists, sociopaths, and selfish jerks, even that guy at the office competing for your job is definitely rooting for you to fail by any means. I am not saying that it's a dog-eat-dog world, but if you work in corporate, don't be naive.
Nobody is rooting for you to fail. Maybe you’ll succeed. Maybe you’ll fail. For the most part, nobody cares one way or the other. This is a good thing! The world is big and you are small, and that means you can chase your dreams with little worry for what people think.

Replying to @HeyBilt
@HeyBilt I’m freaking out rn, as I just discovered my rent payments no longer use a credit line, but hit my bank?! There are easier ways to implement mortgage payments w/#Bilt20 other than upending the finances of renters in Bilt Alliance. #BringBackCreditLine4RentPayments

@ankurjain_2 #Bilt20 is a liquidity failure. You allowed a balance transfer of my previous rent to my new credit line, but are forcing a mandatory ACH every month from now on. Requiring twice my rent in one cycle is NOT helping renters. #BringBackCreditLine4RentPayments

Just for the record, anytime I put myself 1st through actionable self-care, I have always come out on top. I have never had to pay for prioritizing what I had to do for myself, despite worrying about repercussions. When I build up myself before engaging w/others, respect follows.
Sometimes you have to choose yourself, and sit in the discomfort of leaving others behind.

I don't think there is anything mature about NOT communicating. With few exceptions (such as abuse) there isn't a good reason to relegate myself to silence. It has taken me a long time to accept that no communication is perfect, but trying is better than not doing so at all.
Once you’ve matured you realize silence is more important than proving a point.
That sounds super easy if you don't have clinical OCD.
If it’s not gonna matter eventually, might as well not let it matter today.
An underrated book for me about self-discipline.
Disagree. A true friend will alert you to when you're engaging in pointless drama and will not speak to you again, until you desist in it, b/c a true friend wants what's best for you and will not enable you.
A true friend is someone who never gets tired of listening to your pointless drama over and over again.

What if it's your therapist?
Stop talking to people who don’t listen.
Because that 20% usually make it impossible for anyone else to do their work through bullying, discrimination, withholding of technical knowledge based on demographics, tortuous code, technical debt and silo-ed teams that prevent other people from being productive.
20% of the workers produce 80% of the results.
My body in this moment isn't who I am. I can leverage my assets, physical or otherwise to be whatever I need them to be.
You were given one body when you were born—don’t try to be someone else, something else.

The same argument applies to folks who can't walk w/o electronic or mechanical assistance. Would you tell them that moving around on vehicles that make life more functional for them is trying to be someone else?

Would you tell Oscar Pistorius that his operations & use of prostheses are his trying to be "something else"? We create who we are.
Finally saw _Don't Worry Darling_. I'm surprised that more folks didn't like it, and that the critics panned it. I thought it was quite a necessary depiction of what it's like to be in a narcissistic relationship or any kind of brainwashing institution. 4/5 stars
