Smoking rates are still too high, and that is bad for moms and babies. It is time for another push to bring smoking rates down in Ohio.
In 2020, nearly 20% of Ohio mothers who received Medicaid smoked cigarettes during pregnancy. There are steps we can take to reduce this number, writes Kezia Ofosu Atta. Read her latest blog post: ow.ly/osyW50RvbjF

Any gaps in coverage can delay preventive care, and this is concerning for young children as this is a period of rapid development. Continuous Medicaid coverage, approved in the last budget, will help eliminate these gaps.
OH resumed its Medicaid eligibility determination process in Feb '23. That process finishes this month. What happens to the families who lose coverage? Read @ThatSusanA & Kezia Ofosu Atta's latest to learn more: ow.ly/ygNt50QZ7HC

Couldn't agree more. Let's do what's best for the child not the institution. Your address doesn't have to define you.
Replying to @ThatJeffMurray
All kids deserve the school that fits them best. We spend hundreds of millions on education. Families should not be forced to "make do" or supplement a poor quality "default" school. These are our children. ALL of our children. Let's do what it takes to give them the best.

Looking at claims payment data gives incomplete information. I was not asked for insurance information on any of the 6 vaccination appts that I made for family members. This is what we need data systems that talk to each other.
Wow, less than 1 in 4 Ohio #Medicaid beneficiaries have been vaccinated; who exactly is managing their care?

Totally agree. I was just asked if I had insurance and not asked for any additional information. Will be a deterrent for some.
Why are people being asked for insurance cards when getting the COVID vaccine? I’m at a site with my son and it seems like an very unnecessary step.
While nursing home enrollment has fallen, @o4aadvocacy reports 2,000 people waiting for home care due to the lack of providers - largely because rates have not kept up. Shoring up the HCBS system needs to be a high priority for Ohio's policymakers.
The Ohio Medicaid program also saw decreases in nursing home residents in the duals managed care program called MyCare. 20,197 people in March 2020. 17,298 people in March 2021. A decrease of almost 2,900 people. medicaid.ohio.gov/Portals/0/…
Not tempting fate in this household. Here's our lucky lemon pig for the new year.

Appears to be time to resurrect the bill that sets cultural competency educational requirements for medical professionals that was previously introduced by @sjones524 and @LetaTavares.
Huh? I grew up in Tipp City and this is so disappointing and such an embarrassment to my hometown. I thought we were better. daytondailynews.com/news/loc…
