A lovely quote for children across the world from a 14 year old Princess Elizabeth, in October 1940: “And when peace comes, remember it will be for us, the children of today, to make the world of tomorrow a better and happier place”.

The bee in my feedback bonnet is that it should extend learning through reference to learning intention and planned opportunity for active engagement from the pupil (not ‘remember to’), whilst not being an onerous workload for teachers. This guide does it all in 6 steps.
Our new feedback guidance report is accompanied by this Implementation Pack for senior leaders who are looking to make evidence-informed changes to their school's feedback policy.

As the time for writing moderation looms (or not) I thought I'd share this short guide to greater depth writing.
The idea that you can't teach greater depth writing is confused with the fact that you can't teach it to everyone. You can teach it. But two things are essential. (1)
Many schools use standardised tests from the likes of NFER, Rising Stars, Star and GL. Really helpful explanation and table to identify pupils in the “lowest 20%” using standardised scores.

V interesting small study. “During the pandemic we learnt a lot quickly about working collaboratively with parents to support rich home learning. Working with parents like this isn’t a nice extra. When it’s done well, it can make a real difference. That’s a cause for optimism.”
'The pandemic has affected children differently so we need to be cautious about over-general claims.
For example, our data does not support the view that children’s early communication has been especially hard-hit, if they missed a term of nursery.’
