Been playing a lot of Villager, and he has taught me how often things in Ult happen on Accident. I never realized how often I got away with people just running into my 60% combo starter, whereas Villager has to be extremely purposeful, his “accidents” are irrelevant

We talk about "resource gaps" being a large factor in why players are able to get better faster than others, switch mod availability, coaching, public transport, free time, etc. But I think by far the most meaningful is a Culture Gap and I don't think that's acknowledged enough

Its REALLY tough cultivating a culture like that, finding people who have bought in or are willing to buy in, especially if its JUST you who is trying to make it. But if you can, this is REALLY how you get good, in my opinion. And if you can't cultivate it, find it online

Thank you to everyone who came to S@PS 250, we got a 58 man bracket finished in a little over 5 hours which feels great, I appreciate the bracket etiquette everyone had. I’ll be doing gas reimbursement stuff tomorrow morning, so look out for that

Our biggest complaint is that we didn’t do more, which is a fantastic problem to have. We’ll get another bigger bracket going later in the fall, keep your eyes peeled if you like what we had going on this time. I love saps and PA and smash : D

Maybe I make something long form about it, but my hottest Ult Take is that Mr. G&W objectively has a much lower power level than many top tiers, but he’s only ever playing the characters he does well into in bracket. He’s a top tier by happenstance. The nepo baby of the top tiers

It’s not just with “meta relevant” characters, but characters that the public finds fun. Characters like Roy, Snake, spacies, ROB, are all good, but also have a larger playerbase because people enjoy playing them. If we all liked ZSS or Sonic he’d shoot down the tier list
