The Bee Fly has been painted by Becky Gibson, our Senior Programmes Officer and Becky's daughter Fern age 12 has painted the Thick Thighed Flower Beetle.
When asked why they chose these invertebrates 'The Bee Fly is one of my favourite insects. They are so fluffy and I love seeing them feeding on flowers in the early spring and pointing them out to others who may not have noticed them before. Fern has been using oil pastels at school to create beautiful drawings of iridescent beetles. This beetle is beautiful in colour and is easy to spot in grassland meadows in summer.
These are two of our 14 fabulous invertebrates that form our summer trail to be found around the Forest Centre site. The trail is open daily 10am-4pm. Please speak to reception for details. #thameschase #summerholidays #nature #kids #explore
