In early September 2026, the first two of 12 crystallizer superloads safely arrived at Thacker Pass following their journey from Plymouth, Utah, marking a major milestone in delivering critical lithium processing equipment.
“Seeing the first two crystallizers arrive on site this week is a proud moment for the entire transportation and logistics team,” said Keith Lincoln, @LithiumAmericas Transportation & Logistics Consultant. “Getting oversized equipment of this scale safely from Plymouth, Utah to Thacker Pass took months of coordination with NDOT, state patrol, our carriers and the communities along the route. Our first delivery was a success. It went smoothly and it gives us a strong operational baseline as we move into a sustained cadence of shipments over the coming weeks. We're grateful to the communities along Highway 50 and beyond for their patience and cooperation, and we'll keep working closely with NDOT to keep these routes safe for everyone.”

Last week at Thacker Pass, construction crews placed lids on the Sulfuric Acid tanks, which are crucial components of the Sulfuric Acid Plant. The Sulfuric Acid Plant will produce the sulfuric acid used to leach lithium from the clay ore, creating the brine that moves through purification.

We are committed to nurturing future talent by supporting the educational institutions that will shape the next generation of the critical minerals workforce. In 2025, our Tech Center donated two pieces of equipment to advance research and education at post-secondary institutions: an atomic absorption spectrometer to the @unevadareno to support lithium extraction and battery materials research, and a large-scale beneficiation circuit to @montana_tech to enhance metals recovery studies.

The final “arrowhead” for our eighth, and final, counter-current decantation (CCD) thickener tank was assembled at Thacker Pass. Arrowheads are large fabricated steel sections that make up the floor of the thickener tanks. The next installation includes 20 smaller interconnecting floor plates. The plates are connected with over 6,500 bolts and will be seal-welded, before installation of the rake assembly.

Lithium Americas received an additional drawdown of $239 million from its U.S. Department of Energy ATVM Loan. The Company continues to progress major construction of @ThackerPass Phase 1, targeting mechanical completion in late 2027. There are more than 1,700 workers on site today, with over 2,000 expected before the year’s end, as we advance toward peak activity and peak labor later this year.

Starting Monday, Aug. 17, drivers across Nevada and Utah may spot a series of a dozen superloads carrying crystallizer components bound for Thacker Pass on U.S. Route 50. The arrival of these crystallizers are another marker of construction progress at Thacker Pass.
Travelers along the route may see law enforcement escorts, staging trucks overnight in designated areas, and temporary traffic pauses as loads move through. Superload shipment timeframes will be posted by @nevadadot to NVRoads.com. @LithiumAmericas will also share shipment updates in our weekly community newsletter so Nevada residents and travelers can plan ahead.

For fraternal twin brothers Noah and Parker, this summer at Thacker Pass has been a rare opportunity to learn the business of building, together, at the largest lithium project in North America.
Both study at the @uarizona, and joined @Bechtel's Project Controls team based at Thacker Pass. The experience in the Project Controls department gave them a front-row set to the planning, cost tracking, forecasting, and day-to-day discipline required to move a project of this scale forward.

Construction at Thacker Pass is safely accelerating construction toward peak activity and peak labor later this year, with mechanical completion targeted for late 2027. More than 1,600 workers are on-site, with over 2,000 expected before the year's end. Thacker Pass is reaching new vertical heights as structural steel and concrete work at the processing plant advances through second-floor installations. Across the site, we are transitioning into piping and electrical trades and are receiving more than 60 truckloads of equipment and materials each day. All off-site power modifications are complete, and we remain on track for energization in Q4 2026."
