Europe is fucked... Gas prices are surging.
Germany is Europe's largest gas storage hub and accounts for 25% of EU gas consumption.
Storage levels are at just 56%... The lowest ever for this time of year.
And look at what Europe has done to itself...
- Sanctioned Russia, its largest gas supplier.
- Qatar is renewing force majeure notices every month.
- Refrained from filling gas storage because prices were too high.
First, they switched to renewables while simultaneously reducing baseload power capacity, which is needed when the sun isn't shining and the wind isn't blowing.
Oh... And guess when the sun isn't shining and the wind isn't blowing?
During winter, when gas consumption is at its highest.
In other words, Europe is entering winter with dangerously low gas inventories, disrupted supply routes, and an energy system increasingly dependent on the weather.
And now gas prices are surging again...
The EU is on its path to economic suicide.

A major coordinated sabotage attack was just carried out against railway infrastructure in at more than 20 locations in the Netherlands.
Large 2 meter-long metal pipes were deliberately attached to the tracks, triggering track-circuit and safety system failures by tricking the grid's computers into registering that the tracks were blocked.
Some of the attacked railway lines include:
Amersfoort – Zwolle
Zwolle – Leeuwarden
Utrecht – Arnhem
Arnhem – Zutphen
Amersfoort–Deventer
Gouda–Oudewater

My nephew Michael Hines was born with cerebral palsy. He came into this world with every strike against him, and yet he never had an unhappy day. He was a luminous soul, sent by God to teach us all how to live in gratitude and love.
He died a week before his 21st birthday in May 2024. His organs went to nine recipients and saved two lives, including the mother of an intellectually disabled child. His heart went to a nine-year-old boy.
After a lifetime of giving the gift of love, he died giving the gift of life.

Here's a pic of me on the beuatiful Greek island of Corfu a few months ago. People talk a lot about the Mediterranean Diet and Blue Zones, and for some strange reason there's now controversy over this, with some people online saying "it's not a thing". I believe this is a load of nonsense and let me explain why.
I've visited the Mediterranean many times and spent a lot of time in various countries there. Greek food is one of my favorite cuisines too. When we look at countries like Greece, Italy, Spain and various islands— they basically outperform countries like the USA and UK in every health metric including longevity. Obesity rates are much lower. Sure, they are not perfect, but we have a lot to learn from them.
I'm not a fan of the term "Mediterranean diet" because it's actually more like "Mediterranean lifestyle". Learning points:
1. Their food is much purer and less processed than our food. The average person cooks from scratch more and eats at home
2. Their portions are much smaller than our insane portions. Total calorie intake is much less than the average American or Brit. This may even be the number one important factor in why they don't struggle with so many health problems (it's not rocket science!)
3. They get the fundamentals of diet right: They eat carbs, but healthy non-refined carbs and they don't go over the top with intake. Good amount of protein and health fats (plenty of olive oil)
4. They walk a lot and are not sedentary
5. They get outdoors a lot in a good climate and get Vitamin D
6. There is more of a sense of community and family. Lower mental health issues, the medical profession isn't dishing out psychiatric medications like crazy (no pun intended). Fewer people turn to addictive food for comfort.
A lower percentage of people go to the gym, have biohacks, or extreme diets. They live more simply and get the common sense fundamentals right. That's why they live longer and healthier.
I hope they stay that way.

Hawaii has highest utility costs in America at 83.5% above national average, followed by Alaska (+48.4%) and Massachusetts (+43.9%); all six New England states rank in top 10 for utility costs, reflecting region’s reliance on imported fuels and constrained pipeline capacity; Idaho has cheapest utilities at 26.6% below average, followed by New Mexico, Montana, and Nevada

The S&P 500 has rarely traded outside of its nearly 100-year trend channel. While the weight-of-the-evidence still supports equities, the overshoot adds to a growing list of indicators suggesting a late-cycle environment.

Surging Tanker Rates Signal a Deepening Global Energy Crisis
Global tanker freight rates are surging to record levels with little respite in sight, a sign of the growing strain in oil markets as traders, shipowners, producers and buyers grapple with a drawn-out conflict in the Persian Gulf and increasingly complex workarounds.
Earnings for supertankers sailing on the benchmark Middle East-to-China route are at a record of nearly $800,000 a day. Meanwhile, for the US Gulf to Asia run, charterers have been offering very large crude carriers at a record lump-sum fee of $29.5 million — close to $15 per barrel without considering additional war risks or fees for unexpected delays. A janitor at Boston College worked the overnight shift for more than 20 years. Not because he had to. Because the university has a policy that lets employees' children attend tuition free.
Fred Vautour took the job with a plan. If he worked at Boston College, his kids could go there for nothing. All they had to do was get accepted.
All five of them did.
His oldest, Amy, started in 1998. His youngest, Alicia, graduated in May 2016. One by one, each of his children applied, got in, and earned their degree from one of the top private universities in the country without paying a dime in tuition.
The family saved an estimated $700,000.
Vautour cleaned bathrooms and mopped floors on the graveyard shift while his children slept in dorm rooms down the hall. He never asked for recognition. He just kept showing up, year after year, so they wouldn't have to carry debt.
Five kids. Five degrees. Zero dollars in tuition. All because their dad picked up a mop

Breadth has weakened a good deal lately, with the S&P 500 A/D line breaking this longer-term trendline.
Most definitely a warning sign, but as long as the S&P 500 holds above the June peak things should be ok.

RFK Jr. and President Trump are taking on the American Medical Association’s monopoly over the billing codes used throughout America’s healthcare system.
“CPT codes are owned exclusively by the American Medical Association, the AMA.”
“Decades ago, Congress gave the AMA a de facto monopoly over these codes.”
“Last year alone, organizations across all of our healthcare systems paid the AMA more than three hundred million dollars just to use those CPT codes.”
“Those costs don’t disappear.”
“Healthcare providers and insurers and employers pass them on to their patients.”
“Every American pays the price.”
“Washington created a system that puts special interests ahead of the American people.”
“President Trump is changing all that.”
